How do I reinstall xp as I have got no disc for it and the disc for that particular computer has been lost so am totally lost, soory once again if it is an obvious answer but I honestly don`t know how to do that.0 -
without a disk, you can't reinstall xp, cheapest legal copy i can find eaily is £51 from amazon, more than the pc, though the cpu changed message worries me slightly, maybe cmos battery dead (cheap to replace)?Utinam logica falsa tuam philosophiam totam suffodiant.0

Sort the processor out first.
It could be a big or a little issue, try leaving the PC pluged into a wall socket and the socket switched on but leave the PC off apart from the power switch at the rear if it has one.
If left for a day or even overnight it should charge the CMOS battery up, then try the PC and boot to the BIOS.
Keep a close eye on the text as it starts to boot, you should see something like press delete key to enter BIOS/SETUP then tap that key slowly as it tries to boot.0 -
Thanks tonyhague I think I have heard enough to turn the Pc down. Never mind, it would have been nice but obviously no good without the disc. Just what exactly is a cmos? Sorry for the ignorance.0

For £25 you cant lose much and worth a punt, but as you know very little about PC's maybe you are right.0
