You will need to look at where your item stands in the new search 'Lowest price including p+p'.
If your boots start off at £15.00 plus £5 postage and packing (or whatever you've stated) then you might find yourself a long way down the list to a seller who starts off the bidding at 0.99p plus £5 postage and packing.
Sellers who offer Free, inclusive Postage and Packing seem to get a good placing. Sellers who fail to state their p+p charges and say 'see description for details' go to the bottom of the list - even though they might start off at 0.99p.
Personally, I wouldn't enter a starting bid for £15.00 plus p+p unless the boots were a current line, selling in a retail shop for over £60.00 and in unworn condition. I can buy real leather boots brand new for £15.00 at a local outlet, so your boots would have to be a bargain to get my interest.
I think there are a number of reasons why things are slow:
- people are tightening their belts
- it's a buyers market and competion is fierce.
That's my opinion, but I could be wrong.0 -
Kay Peel, I forgot about the rankings..you may have the explanation. As all our listings are ranked within the searches it is possible that some of the newer sellers might be nearer the bottom of the page, whereas the established sellers with 'high' stars and low postage costs get higher profiled.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Out of curiosity though - and you don't have to tell us publicly, but have you checked your Seller Star ratings? If any one of them is under 4.3, then your listings will be put to the back of the results list.
Interesting...i didn't know that!;) Mine are above the threshold thankfully.:D

We wanted to let you know about further changes to how listings are displayed in search results. We’re doing this to reward sellers who offer great customer service, by making it easier for buyers to see listings from those sellers at the top of their search results.
Last December, we began demoting the listings of sellers who had a Detailed Seller Rating of 3.9 or below for postage & packaging costs. From early March, we’re going to look at all four DSR categories: item as described, communication, delivery time, as well as postage & packaging charges.
The listings of sellers with a DSR of 4.3 or below on any of the four rating categories will appear lower in search results. Based on current figures, this will affect around 3% of all sellers.
We’ll calculate ratings on a rolling 30-day basis, so that the most recent and relevant transactions are the ones that will influence visibility in search results. This also means that should you be a seller whose listings are affected, you’ll be more able to improve your scores quickly by offering good customer service.
If you’re a seller and your current DSRs are close to the 4.3 threshold, look at how to improve your customer service levels to raise the ratings that buyers leave you. Since the DSRs will be based on ratings from the previous 30 days, you should be able to improve your scores in short order.

Reward sellers who offer great service???
It's more like rewarding sellers who can dodge the numpty buyers!<--- Nothing to see here - move along --->0 -
I put some things on last week after a break from selling. They seem to be going pretty well ... although I'm not sure I make enough money out of Ebay to do it more often than occasionally. I wouldn't be interested in boots with a £15 starting price - however good they might be ... think you need a lower starting price just to get bids started.0

sold a few items last week, they were all for pickup. Getting the buyers to actually come around and pay and collect was another thing. Some were too far away and said are you sure you really can't post the item, with no meantion of actually paying the postage. Another buyer wanted me to meet them in some car park because they didn't think they could find my house!
In the end told them all to stuff it and relisted.0 -

I think that is fine. I would buy boots for £15+ if it is what I was looking for.. so that does seem fair in my opinion. But as some other posters have said... You may find it better to start them off at 99p, as you will attract alot of interest then a bidding war will start, and you may get more than you expect. It is entirely up to you. If you list it on 99p, try to do it on a 7 or 10 day listing... and let your auction end on thursday evening (6pm-9pm)
