Nothing selling..

I'm finding it really hard to sell anything, and wondered if anyone else was the same just now?
A lot of my stuff is stuff that I've bought but not used, eg:boots that I bought for 30 pounds, tried on once and never wore..I'm offering them for half that price...I have a lot of items like that.
Am I asking too much?
Or are things just very slow just now?

This is being discussed on the eBay boards a lot recently - it does not seem to be a coincidence that the "new search" is being extensively trialled, and "best match" is now the default results display in many categories.
Out of curiosity though - and you don't have to tell us publicly, but have you checked your Seller Star ratings? If any one of them is under 4.3, then your listings will be put to the back of the results list.<--- Nothing to see here - move along --->0 -
I listed 18 items.. all have sold in past.. only 4 sold, only 1 paid for so far~*Cerenia*~

Thanks all for your replies

I've only just started selling,(so no seller ratings yet, though I have a high 100% + feedback as a buyer) listed a fair few things, all either brand new or in good condition, sold about 2 out of 14.
I've relisted them all and dropped the asking price, but if they don't sell this time I won't try again, because as you say the selling fees will wipe out any money I might make.
And yet I hear people sying they sold all their stuff all the time?

Another factor for slow sales this week is the because of the Free Insertion Fee last weekend. The site has been swamped with listings, giving buyers more choice, and more tat to wade through, and giving sellers less exposure and more competition.
Before relisting straight away, it may be worth leaving them in your unsold items for a another 7-10 days to let the junk listings die down a bit. A lot of items unsold from last weekend will have been relisted last night.<--- Nothing to see here - move along --->0 -
Considering we had the free listing weekend and that stuff is mainly still up on ebay, I seem to be doing surprisingly well. I've no idea why, some of the [strike]junk[/strike] highly collectable items that I have tried listing before without success attracted bids within minutes of being listed and ended up over £5..I wish I knew why

However on the downside a rather nice item that I would have got £4-£5 easily for in the past went for the opening bid of 99p. At least it saved me going to the charity shop with it.
I usually aim to sell around 75-80% of the items i list, less if it is just books. On free listing days I consider I've done well if I sell 10%..this time it looks like I might easily exceed a sale rate of 25% and with bids still coming in slowly I might even do better.
I am getting ruthless now though, I don't 'chance' things like I used to, if I don't think it will sell, and sell well, then I tend not to bother. The exception being books where I will often try them out at 99p as I'm only paying insertion fees of 5p a time.
I tend to be pessimistic though and I don't think it will last.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Not doing any selling now and find ebay really quiet. Got some real bargains though, expected to pay for something 25-30 quid and got it for 99p0
