Chinese Phone - No Predictive Text Messaging

Hi all

I brought a phone from China (a Obee 757) and its a fantastic phone. However I have a little problem: it doesn't offer predictive text messaging in English. I mainly text and send loads in a day so would someone kindly be able to tell me if there is a way around this?

Thanks in advance

You get what you pay for. I'd not expect a Chinese k800i ripoff to have decent english predictive text.

So where do you think your phone or the k800i for that matter, is made ?
Do I want it? ......Do I need it? ......What would happen if I don't buy it??????

China, probably, but that's not the salient point, because once you've bought it, you have Sony Ericsson to call on if you need help.

If you buy from a no-name Chinese company you'll probably get no help at all once you've handed over your cash.

My Nokia has a "Made in Germany" sticker inside it, but they're moving that factory to Romania apparently.

Sony Ericsson also have a factory in France.

The point is that it's a knockoff phone intended for the chinese market. You're lucky it has english menus at all.
They say it's genetic, they say he can't help it, they say you can catch it - but sometimes you're born with it
  • As has been pointed out, there is no predictive text, see page 8 & 9 of your manual, or download it from here

Obee are making quite a name for themselves in the Far East, as being quite an innovative firm, using biometric security for phones/pdas. admittedly their business plan tends to follow that of Russia in the 1960's (copy and mass produce), plenty others do too

    Hi

Its not a K800i rip off. Its by a company named Obee. The phone is better that any other phone I've had except for the lack of predictive SMS. It has a touch screen, fingerprint authorisation, takes 2 sim cards.

Anyway it looks like there is no way around it :(
  • No predictive text? Lucky you.

I have to ask, what makes this phone from china any better than the range available here? apart from the predictive text thing, what features are better? etc.

A couple of the things that DG has already mentioned would seem useful - particularly the 2 SIM card facility if you often go to more remote places where reception is limited.

And I must agree to a certain extent with Chris, predictive can sometimes be a pain. If I enter "intere" on my Panasonic, it asks me to choose between "interested" and "interfsted". I wouldn't mind so much if there was any way to edit the dictionary that it uses, but you can't...
