Playstation 2 Finally Died - Best Way Forward

Just to put this into perspective - I got a 360 just over a year ago now and have played my PS2 *twice* since I got it...Once you've stepped up a gen, it's hard to go back.
(If only they were to release Amplitude on XBLA, I'd never need the PS2 at all
) 0 -
Let's put this into perspective: for the price of a PS3 game, you can get 10 PS2 games from the bargain bin. Never mind the price tag of the system itself!
I've got a XBox 1 and I'm not upgraded anytime soon. A friend got a XBox 360: when I go to his place, we play Halo 3. When he comes to my place, we play Halo 2. Honestly, I'm incapable to say which one we played most in the last couple of weeks.0 -
There were some old s/h PS3's in the window of our local Game store at the weekend, aren't they backward compatible, sorry didn't look at prices.

Why is it I have less time now I am retired then when I worked?0 -
if you contact sony they will replace your ps2 for £550

If I was buying a PS2 just now I'd make sure it was one of the old fat ones. I'd then buy a network adapter, a hard drive and the HD Advance disc and fire the games onto the hard drive. They load much faster and there's no nonsense with changing discs.
They say it's genetic, they say he can't help it, they say you can catch it - but sometimes you're born with it0 -

Have you got any details for doing this, please?
For example: a phone number or email address?
What do you have to say is wrong for it to be replaced?
I'm asking because my son's PS2 seems hit and miss as to whether it loads a disk or not and sometimes freezes mid game.0 -
we had the same problem, our 2 eleven year old sons did upgrade to an xbox 360 (only 3 games at the moment) last November for their birthday, but they have quite a few ps2 games, the ps2 console gave up a couple of weeks ago, so bought one of the second hand consoles from Game for £50 it did come with a 1 year warranty.
It does keep a bit of the peace in our house although we do control the amount of time they spent on them.no debts0 -

I contacted them asking how much they charge to repair my ps2 as it didnt work any more (I have had it for years, so not under any type of cover), they said they can fix my ps2 for £70 or send me a replacement ps2 for £55 (they collect your broken ps2 when delivering the replacement ps2) it was delivered within 2-3 days.0
