I have issued a refund to the buyer as having read one of the other posts on here, imagine this is what paypal will do anyway and hopefully by issuing the refund now, this will prevent any negative feedback. I thought selling on ebay was a good idea! but my recent batch of selling hasn't actually proved as profitable as I thought so dont think I will bother in the future! I find the fees paypal charge extortionate!!

As item does not show as delivered you will definitely lose the paypal chargeback.

As for claiming losses from the Royal mail it is just the standard claim, so you can start it after 15 working days has elapsed. However, in my experience it is more difficult to persuade RM to pay out on recorded items..I don't know why, maybe I have just been unlucky. I had one refused as the post code did not exist in the same form in the RM database..even though it was oxford university!

I have had Recorded Delivery items refunded from RM with no problems at all - even when the item was delivered but RM failed to get a signature and/or couldn't find it.

Just fill the form in, keep photocopies of everything that you send as RM have a habit of losing stuff you send to them too.

    Should be no problems.

I issued the refund to my buyer on the day I received notification of the claim (Sunday). I cant be bothered with the hassle of not giving the refund as it will only lead to negative feedback which I dont want. (even though I have very little intention of selling on ebay in the future - not worth the hassle and they charge far too much especially paypal)

Anyway the refund I issued is still pending through paypal. Is this because I only have about £3 in my paypal account? The refund is for £6 odd and I only noticed today that if you are issuing a refund, you need to make sure you have sufficient funds in your account. I have now added funds but these will take 7 - 10 days to reach my paypal account. will the refund pend until then?

I didnt think it mattered that you had little or no funds in your account because when i pay for something via paypal, if I dont have enough in my account it takes the money from my bank account or debit card so I thought making a refund would operate on the same basis.
