Moving Isa

My girlfriend and i have started to invest in mini cash isas as of last year. I have £1200 in mine and she has £2200. We are with the halifax who give us 5.5% AER, we also have the £7200 ready to go in april 5th 2008.
My question is should we stay with the halifax or move it somewhere else? I've noticed Barclays are offering a good rate of 6.5% but you cannot transfer funds from another ISA.
What would be a good ISA to go for? We don't want to be drawing out of it and would rather manage it online and also wanted to be able to tranfer our current ISA's across to the new one.
Any advice would be welcome.

    Anyone??
  • Try Abbey, they accept isa transfers. I think their rate is 6.25% and they have a super saver account offering 10%, minimum balance of £1500 and to deposit £20 - £250 per month. Alliance and Leicester also offer a premier account with 12.5% if you save £20 - £250 per month, you'll need to open an ordinary account with them. Hope this is helpful.

I think you'll find (Direct ISA?) that's been 5.25% for a little while? Halifax (other than their 4 year fixed rate at 6.2% .. but that's potentially a long time if you're dubious about rates staying low) have poor rates at the moment.

Personally I'd go for the Abbey 6.25% for variable .... or have a look at this thread (post #1) for other options or a shorter term fixed rate? But be cautious of the 10% Abbey / A&L offerings ... there are potentially unpalatable strings attached, so read the key details very carefully :-

What about the Halifax fixed rate for 4 years of 6.2%?

If you can commit to a one year committment, the Lloydstsb one year fixed rate at 6.5% is just about the best on the market at the moment. However, if you go for it, don't forget to review the rate on maturity as it will then be earning their ordinary variable rate.
