cheapest option for collecting emails

Hi all,

Can anyone suggest what I need to add to my bog-standard Flext package on T-Mobile to be able to regularly collect my emails..?

I'm due an upgrade soon & am looking at getting myself a Nokia E51. I do have an Outlook Web Access account & I know I'll be able to configure it for push email, but not quite sure exactly what I need to add to my T-Mob package?

Will Web'n'Walk cover what I need? I see they do a Windows Mobile EMail add-on, but I can't justify another £15 a month!!

Thanks

Normal Web'n'Walk is perfect - and if you are NOT going to be out and about a lot with your E51 and you can sync using WiFi wherever you normally are (specifically, if you only need to check your emails while out-and-about for 7 days or less a month, then just use their normal £1/day data cap and pay-as-you-go).

I bought an E51 recently and it's a wonderful piece of equipment - make sure you get some of the great apps for it too, like Fring (for VOIP/Skype calls over the WiFi), Google Maps, GooSync (if you want to sync your calendar with Google Calendar remotely), and someone posted a bluetooth stowaway keyboard on the Grabbit forum for £17.99 which is a steal for a great add-on.

Also recommended is a GPS that crops up for about £20 on orangeaccessories.co.uk from time-to-time

EDIT: just realised you said Outlook Web Access - not sure that'll work in the browser... can you get POP3 access to your email? Else you can have, say, a GoogleMail account to which you set up your Outlook to auto-fwd all your emails, and then check that from the phone.

The Windows Mobile Email addon is, to the best of my knowledge, really for the microsoft push mail service (a bit like Blackberry) on WindowsMobile devices, but the E51 is an S60 device.

You don't need the Windows Mobile E-mail plan for push e-mail - I think their Windows Mobile plans are for people who just want a data-only plan for collecting e-mail and don't need any calls (the page even directs you to Flext + web'n'walk if you want voice as well).

Since you say you have Outlook Web Access, your e-mails are coming from an Exchange server. If it's a relatively recent version of Exchange, you can use ActiveSync (the Microsoft push e-mail solution) direct with Mail for Exchange.

Thanks to both of you for the info. I've got email accounts coming out of my ears, OWA, POP3, GMail etc... so it looks like one way or another I'll be covered for picking them up fairly easily.

Just need my renewal to get here now!

    Thanks again :)

Someone gave me an old TomTom GPS - would that do the job on the E51?

nope. Needs to be a bluetooth GPS receiver only. Bought a Wayfinder from there a while back - tiny little thing even works from INSIDE the glovebox somehow! But search for Holux on eBay - should be able to pick one up for <£30.

For the software, Nokia maps can work with it or you can get yourself a copy of TomTom for S60 (several other brands of navigation software available too). Nokia Maps is built in but for routing you have to pay for their online service.

You'll have to excuse my ignorance, but isn't that what the top pic on that page is? (a bluetooth GPS receiver)
