I would mention it because theft shouldn't be tolerated, I had things stolen at school and we eventually found out it was a 'friend' who's parents were very well off but basically didn't buy her anything, felt quite sorry for her in the end to be honest when we found out just how strict they were, but of course they were extravagant in other ways with the large house, only 2 people in the household being able to drive but had 5 vehicles, yet there were written rules and measuring guides for what was suitable for a meal - one slice of meat and 2 bread 'permitted' for a sandwich lunch was stated on these rules etc.

Anyway, from having things stolen my parents then got me things with my name on, the likes of studio cards (www.24studio.co.uk) do pens and pencils sets with names on, cases also, fountain pens you can usually have engraved. This was how the 'friend' was eventually caught out.
One day I might be more organised...........

That's the one, I'm 34 too. How spooky I haven't even thought about it for years then last night had a huge conversation about it. I need to get out more

how very very strange!!! Now I know where it came from lol Funny how something so small and seemingly irrelevant can mean so much isnt it?

Wish I could replace it :o

I went in last night and had a quick word with the head. As luck would have it he is teaching their class today and assured me he would have a word and ask for the pen to be returned. He was concerned that this has happened a few times.

Hopefully when she comes out tonight she will have it back.

    Thanks all

No, teacher had a word but unsurprisingly nobody owned up. He did give the kids the "Theft will not be tolerated" talk though and they all came out looking rather sheepish.

Ill replace it over the holidays and heavily mark the new one. If that one goes walkies Ill create holy hell!! :o
  • tell staff beforehand how you've marked it, so nobody can accuse your daughter of lying if this one goes missing and she spots somebody else with it.

it's annoying when they HAVE to leave their property unattended :( my son has to leave all bags in the dining hall when going to assembly, and his PE kit went missing. brand new rucksack, school logo kit etc. and the PE teacher kept threatening detention because i didn't find the £70+ to replace it all straight away. it went missing a few days before christmas

his tie went missing yesterday, and he's on his 4th pair of trainers and third calculator. high school is expensive!

good luck with the pen situation!
