Acording to scottish power that is what iam using over the year they are basing that on my past years consumption

Monetary figures are useless to feed into comparison sites. Either ask them for your actual annual kWh figures for both day and night units, or calculate these figures yourself from previous actual readings on bills. Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0 -
hi thanks everybody for your help
just called them back again and asked them the kwh figuers
My tariff is comfort pluss control
domestic usage per yr 3547kwh
heating usage per yr 8334kwh
she also told me that not many supplyers will take over my meter as it is comfort pluss control ie they decide when they put heat into my house which she says is normally 4 hrs on an evening ( rubish i know ) i have no control unless i switch them off at mains !!
Andy i do not get the cheap rate thing at night which you are talking about because i get a discount with my heating
These white meter heaters (storage heaters ) are rubish they take in heat overnight and let it out through day , you have no control over them
mags ( more confused than ever) but learning0 -
Your supply wants to keep you on there books so won't say "yes other companies will happily take your money".
You simply have night storage heating! For normal houses there is only one price for electricity day and night.
For your home (which is not uncommon!) there are 2 prices, day and night. As your heating only comes on through the night they are callling it heating rate when they should be calling it night rate.
On your meter you should find 2 meter readings and look something like this
If you give these numbers to the energy supplier they will give you an actual amount used not an estimated one.Lets get this straight. Say my house is worth £100K, it drops £20K and I complain but I should not complain when I actually pay £200K via a mortgage:rolleyes:0 -
Scottish Power STANDARD shows you would pay £872 p.a., where 70% is on E7, that is ,7hrs of off peak electric not 4 as now.
Your bill of £899 less 3% promised is £872.
Atlantic yet to increase their prices is £700 online a/c. Eon Extra 5 online is £720,price already increased.
Quidco do Eon but in your case only £25 cashback.
If a new supplier won't take you on because of the meters, ask for meters to be changed to Scottish Standard tariff, then after a while switch providers.0 -

You can talk all day on 0800 400 200 or 0800 0270 241, Customer Services. WHY have they put in expensive metering, when the Standard tariff is cheaper? Just the sort of thing Ofgem and Energywatch are looking into.
Were you misled in the first place. If it was a financial package you would get compensation for mis-selling.0 -
Hi ken
The meters were in the house when i moved in here , it is a rented property not council but similier
i always wondered why scotish power were in control off when heat went into my storage heaters , i know this has to be the case with storage heaters
i had white meter heating before a long time ago and it was cheaper to put washing machine on at night but this is differant its the same price for whatever time i use ''other''
Other will also include the bedroom heaters as i have control off these but i wont be getting that heat at a cheaper rate
i dont know how or what i can do really iam at there mercy
Thanks

You are not at their mercy, Mags. Scottish Power want your business, Ofgem say you can shop around, no restrictions, so that is what you should do. Ring Energy Savings Trust, they will advise.
At least you have some benefit, cheap heat during the day.
All depends on your circumstances as to whether E7 or Comfort Plus.0
