Hi there,
I desperately need some help. I have a good credit score (936 according to credit expert) and I can't get credit of any kind. I have discussed this with my bank and with credit expert and they can't understand why. They think it's because I don't have any credit yet. I have tried to get a store card/mobile phone/credit card for people exactly like me in this situation and have been turned down for everything.
I have contacted the companies I applied to and they just say it is due to my credit report, but my credit report is spotless and my rating good. I check my report regularly to make sure all the details are correct on there. I desperately need help as want to get a mortgage and I also need a credit card for emergencies. I have a good income so can't understand what the problem is.
Can anyone help me....please??
Many thank in advance0 -
Hi! I need help too! We just bought a house 3 months ago and got a mortgage off A&L - this is the first ever debt I ever had in my life - and before the mortgage I can get credit card etc. pretty easily although i never own or have one.
After getting the mortgage, my credit score seems very bad as I cannot get any credit for my furniture or a Sainsbury credit card. My partner is in the exact same position and we are worried sick. We will be getting our credit report soon.
Does anyone know why this is happening? The salesman at Furniture Village told us that sometimes bank put a block on your credit when you are getting a mortgage. Is this true? And if so for how long for?0 -
I recently paid off a loan with Welcome Finance. I had been in arrears and they offered me a settlement figure which was 66% of the outstanding balance. I accepted as long as there would be no adverse entry on my credit file and asked for them to put this in the offer letter.
I received the letter and it stated that the credit reference agencies would be notified that the loan had been paid in full once I had paid. I paid the lump sum within the time period agreed and thought that would be the end of it. A week later I received this alert from Equifax.
Type: Caution flag
One of your accounts has recently had a caution flag added, amended or deleted. The addition of this flag is an indication to the lender that a new risk is present. Partial
I complained and I now have another entry today which says
New Information
There has been a change to the Current Status on the following account, if this is incorrect, contact Equifax. Settled
Having complained to Welcome Finance and sent a copy of the letter to Equifax surely the reference to the partial payment should be removed. I would not have accepted their offer had I known that would be entered and I have it in writing that they would regard the account as having been paid in full.
Who would I have to contact to have this entry removed

I have just received my credit files from all 3 major CRAs and have a query concerning the search information on the callcredit file (I have tried to contact them about it by phone but all their services seem to be automated and none lead to an actual person). Anyway, I have 2 searches on my file on the same day from an organisation that I have no dealings with, using incorrect date of birth with the search purpose "money laundering". I am concerned that someone has been attempting to open accounts in my name (each entry has differing capitalisation of the letters in my name). The company is Eurobet UK Ltd. Does anyone know anything about them and can anyone give me any information how these entries would affect my credit worthiness and the process to get them removed if possible?
I think that's Coral the bookmakers. You should give their customer services a call0 -
Hi, about 6 months ago my arranged overdraft date was coming to an end. Rang bank to have it extended and they wouldnt because they said i wasnt putting enough money though acc. So asked if i paid overdraft back monthly would this affect my credit rating, the banks answer was no, because it was an o.d., so came to agreement to pay £800 a month bank. Made every payment on time, however on my equifax acc it was in as (arrangement to pay) after bank said it wouldnt. Credit rating gone from excellent to very poor in 4 months?? Can i do anything0

I recently applied to experian for a credit check to discover i had a CCJ. This was for a catalough i had back in 2004. I had got into abit of debt at that time and took out a loan with Black Horse to pay these debts off. I paid the Black Horse Loan back when i remortgaged my house. The debt to catalough was paid though them as far as i was aware and i searched through old bank accounts and a payment of £500.00 was payed to Kays from my bank. I was then contacted by Frederick International during Oct 07 by letter to be told I owed money, so i started paying £30.00 per month, Due to being under pressure at the time i was unsure what this was for and paid it. After discovering the CCJ I contacted the courts it was issued at and they gave me a contact no which took me back to Frederick International? They informed me they were claiming the debt back from Kays from 2004 for £648.22 (this included the court costs!). I told them i had paid Kays at the time and they said to write to different courts etc, and if it was proved they would credit my account. I SHOULDN'T HAVE AN ACCOUNT IN THE FIRST PLACE!! In the mean time i have a ccj and a mortgage due to be changed and dont know where to start. Can anyone help? Pleeeeeese0

I'm new to the forums, although I've been taking all your advice on many subjects for a long long time... So thank you and Hi everyone.
After a whole lot of reading, I'm wanting to know, how long exactly, does it take to get a default off your file once you've given the letter over confirming that you paid the debt within the 28days grace and therefore the CCJ shouldn't be on your file in the first place.
I've got builders at my house, the job keeps getting bigger and I need a loan urgently.
But until the default is taken off I can't put a loan application in, I'm in limbo and currently homeless as my home is a building site until I can pay the workmen to complete.
Has anyone put in a query? How long does an update take?0
