I was just turned down for a loan application and was suprised as I thought I had a good credit history. I went to look at my credit report with Experian (as recommended by Martin - thanks!) and spotted two mistakes and am writing to ask them if they will correct these mistakes.
Just wondering what other people's experiences have been with a similar situation? Did they correct the mistakes willingly? Did it help with future credit applications? Do you need to contact all credit scoring agencies or will the corrections (if they decide to make them) apply across the board?
Thanks!
I've had similar where Welcome Finance have undertaken a non-authorised search of my file. I wrote to them to point it out and they wrote back to me within a week, also including a copy of the letter they sent to the CRAs removing this search. It worked well and quickly - and yes, I was astonished!Almost debt-free, but certainly even with the Banks!0 -

to make 100% sure it is marked as satisified by the credit ref agencies, you need to send them a copy of the notice of satisfaction.Karma is a wonderful thing.0 -
Hi there,
I am going to see the mortage advisor tomorrow morning but just got my credit file online.
I had a few problems when I was younger..stupidity with my bank account.
My credit rating shows as 'poor' and the score is 715
all my account were up to date at the only negative things on it were
defaulted account 22/07/02
defaulted account 18/12/03
These were both sorted out and were some time ago now but will this still effect me when i try to get a mortgage???
I am currently completely debt free and have been for years. I clear around £1500 and my only outgoing is £35??
Many thanks

Can anyone advise if there is a limit to the number of loans applications you can make before your credit rating goes from good to poor? My husband and I are trying to apply for a loan and due to the lender (RBOS) making mistakes re our circumstances (recorded incorrect income twice?!) we are about to apply for teh 3rd time. The 1st application was declined due to 'free income', when I phoned they said I'd declared income that couldn't be verified, they only held my details not my husband's. On the 2nd application they hold us both but incorrect amounts. I phoned them and they said I'd need to reapply!!! That'll be 3 applications in 1 week. Surely this will make us look bad in credit rating terms?0

We took out an MBNA card and were accepted (credit rate very good) were phoned about 3 weeks after the card was issued and offered a Premier Plus card - we told them that we had just recieved a new MBNA card and we did not want another. The person stated that it had better benefits and we agreed to "upgrade" however they have done a credit search as if it was a new application and unsurprisingly I am furious as we had wanted to purchase a lawnmower at 0% interest 3 months later, and did not want anything to affect our credit score.
MBNA say that they can remove this from our credit record is this true?

Hi there,
I've heard that the best thing to do re: finding out your credit rating is to find out from the three companies that hold this kind of stuff on file.
However I do still owe PayPal what is probably a significant amount of money now due to some twerp illegally buying stuff on eBay using his mummy's credit card. All the sellers got the brunt of the chargeback (as opposed to the kid/the credit card companies paying the ££ out) except for me because I didn't have any money in my PP account. They did try to contact me beforehand but I only used a computer every week or so at the library at time, and PP decided to charge me because I "failed to provide tracking information" (whatever that means) within the 7 days they'd allotted me. They did set a debt collection agency on me, but I left the city after a bit.
Secondly, in the same house, I got a bill for £200 from both norweb (I think) and powergen for electric, despite paying with a card from npower. I called both firms and they said "sort it with npower and they'll sort it with us". But npower had no record of my card number ever existing... after a few months trying to sort the mess, I moved out and that was the end of that.
It was a stressful year, esp. when you add Manchester city council harassing me for council tax when I was a student at the time (they too set a debt collection agency on me)... although the CAB sorted that when I moved back to my home town, thankfully.
So if I tried to find out my credit rating, would these ghosts come back to haunt me?
Thanks a lot in advance.0
