Hi all. I tend to apply for loans to buy big purchases as it means my money stays in the savings account and I am forced to pay off the loan, where I wouldn't have enough disipline to pay myself back my savings. I am angry as every time I switch on my computer I am told someone is offering a loan at only 6.5% or 6.9%. My credit rating is excellent but when I apply I am offered a loan at a staggering 19.8%. the lowest has been 12.9% and that was with a company who I have just finished paying off a loan so they know I am a good credit risk.
If my excellent credit score doesn't procure me a loan at the rate they advertised, what does?. this is all just a ploy to get you to apply and I think it is a gross misrepresentation of the facts.

Hi, newbie here. I was wondering whether credit reports state how much money you have to pay off on your credit cards and how much money you have in your bank account.

Im just a little worried as im due to apply for a mortgage soon and I have money to pay off on my credit card and I have an authorised overdraft which I have used also. Will the fact that I have money to pay off affect my chances of getting a mortgage.
    Thanks in advance
  • Hey,

Just wondering if anybody could help me a little.

I'm a student and want to rent a room in a house, although I've now been told that the estate agents need to peform a credit check.

My question is how far do late payments to British Gas affect this? Payments were never more than a month late to my knowledge, but it was student accommodation so a bit unorganized. Anyway, everything was paid. So will this be on my credit rating and also what's the chances that the estate agents will use this against me renting the place? :(

    Many thanks,
    En

Good idea. Got my report. Where's the cancel link? Anyone found it yet? Or is it one for snail mail?

Im sure you have to email them. Its important to do it before the end of the free period or you are into a contract!!

    Kind regards

Thanks Skanger, for someone telling me I am doing something right - debt freedom sounds good. I have just won £125 and intend to put this towards debts too. Thanks for your support. Think I will pop off and get my report. Kindest regards, Lizzieann

I recently applied for a loan using two credit brokers ( the most stupid thing i could of done!)
I no longer want to take out a long as i'd rather just stick out paying off my debts myself than take on another debt. But im being contacted on a daily basis by potential loan providers and im being credit searched each time they go through my original application. This is crippiling my credit file as it was not too healthy to begin with.

How do i get these people to stop. I can't call them because i've no idea who they all are.

Any advise would be so helpful. Thanks for reading this ;)

Hope someone can give me a pointers about credit searches...
I have applied for a career development loan and got accepted more than a month ago. Since then though, through mistakes from the bank, obstacles after obstacles have stopped me from actually getting the money. Now they say they have everything but unfortunately my application has expired: they need to do another credit search. What exactly does this mean?!
People tell me it is not good to have many credit searches on your 'record'. And surely this means that, for some stupid reason, they might actually be able to deny me the loan, which, a couple of months into my Masters might prove quite problematic...
  • Couple of questions. A few months back I got very behind on ebay fees, was about £1300 owing and they forwarded to intrum justicia(idiots). Ive checked and there is nothing on my credit record from experian which is somewhat suprising. Would there be anything anywhere else?.
Also had a Welcome finance search on there which I didnt authorise. Have sent them a letter asking for it to be removed or i'll be reporting it as fraud. Am I in a position to do this?, only people ive spoke to recenttly were Yes Loans who I told to go take a jump and Churchill finance who I also did nothing with.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi

As far as I'm aware ebay do not report to any credit reference agencies.

And yes you are quite entitled to have that search removed. Companies are not allowed to search your credit file without your consent.
