If you have no financial connection with your partner you can simply apply to have any former links on your credit reports broken. If the situation changes in the future (for instance, if you apply for credit jointly or declare you are a financial unit) the link will be reinstated.

There were several payments of £4.99 with Creditexpert's name as the reference.
I contacted them and they said I had viewed my "Credit SCORE" which costs me £4.99 each time I view it.
Apparantly, there is a box that you tick to say you agree to pay this fee but I have since found out that certain Windows Operating Systems (XP) will tick this box for you so you can proceed withut warning!!
I think it's a bit of a SCAM to be honest and you should be clearly notified shame on you Experian:mad:
Assuming your browser doesn't make tick-box decisions for you there shouldn't be a problem with this. The National Credit Score facility is a clearly-labelled optional extra and the price is clearly marked. I've asked for any potential problems with XP to be investigated as this is naturally a concern. Experian does not run scams, it is a reputable business.

Hi there
I recently got my Credit report from https://www.creditexpert.co.uk as well as my credit score, which came up as 999 out of 1000 and was rated as excellent. On that, I applied for a Tesco credit card. I have received a letter today saying that due to my circumstances "not meeting the criteria of [our] assessment process" I have not been granted the card.
If my credit score is so good then why would I be refused? I have missed one or two payments in the last 3 years due to being in between jobs.
Are there any other cards that I could apply for which have 0% balance transfer?
Many thanks for the great advice on the forum.

Is this normal?. I moved into my house in May and have just applied for the experian credit report & got this message.
We regret that your application for an Experian credit report has not been accepted because we are unable to confirm your identity based upon the information available to us.
To make sure we can process your membership as quickly as possible, please send details of your name and address, together with a copy of your current passport, both parts of your full(not provisional) driving licence or birth certificate and two other original documents (dated within the last three months) connecting you to your present address (e.g. a bank statement, recent utility bill). My 18 year old son is off to Uni this year and applied for a Halifax Student Current Account. He was refused because his total credit score was below the approved level for them to offer him an account. He has a LLoyds under 19 account which has never been overdrawn, no store cards etc and no debts. Halifax advised him to register with Experian to get his credit report. He did this and it shows very little except for the Halifax application and his car insurance. He is on the electoral roll. Halifax said they had no discretion on this and suggested he should get his mobile on contract rather that PAYG. I am disgusted that young people with a responsible attitude to money are penalised in this way. Can anyone suggest a way he can improve his credit score asap without running up debts?
Thanks
Hi Tippy,
This seems very strange to me - I am a student and the banks were all fighting over me to open my student account with them (as they hope you will then stick with them after graduating).
I had not had any credit cards etc and at that time (2years ago) only had PAYG mobile. However I did already have a Halifax account and also the Halifax account was not as good as it is now (so I actually went with HSBC) The Halifax account is head and shoulders better than the rest of the accounts being offered this year and hence my hunch is that they have been oversubscribed.
Does your son already have his acceptance letter for uni? As I thought you needed proof of being a student before you could obtain your student account.
My advise would be for your son:
1) To open a normal "under 21s" account at the Halifax asap.
2) Visit a Halifax office by himself - preferably at one of the univesity offices as they will be used to dealing with students and try to"upgrade" his account.
3) If they still won't offer him an account then go somewhere else -it's their loss.
Finally, (apologies for the long message), there isn't any possibility that someone else's bad credit rating at the same address is affecting his is it?
Hope this helps,0 -
Suffol wrote:I've become a bit of an expert on credit reference agencies myself while restructuring my own indebtedness. A question for any insiders though; what do lenders actually see when they call up your 'credit file' from Equifax or Experian? Two separate financial institutions have now told me that they don't know who the existing lenders are (due to 'data protection' one customer service drone informed me) and only have outstanding balances, monthly payments if applicable, and payment history. Is this true for all? I understand they only get the level of data they share with the agencies, but are they really excluded from knowing who else is lending to you? I'd love to know. Anybody?
I used to work with credit references 6yrs ago and then it didn't name the companies but just had CC PL BANK and gave credit limit, balance outstanding, payment records, we had to see the customers latest statements and link them to each record. For some reason different credit agencies didn't always record the same info. reading some of the other threads then it doesn;t seemed to have changed much.0 -

sorry if this isnt the right place to post this question
My sons dear girlfriend has been turned down for a loan, ( terrible credit she cant even get a club book) so she prompptly decides to apply for one in my sons name from MY ADDRESS just to see if he would be refused also. I am not impressed, as I have or did have 100% credit rating here.
will him being turned down for this loan have any implications on my address/ or for my son having a loan refused and is there anything I can do about it.
I cant see why he would have been refused it other than it was for such a large ammount, she is only 19 and decided she just must have 8 grand for a car!
any help / suggestions will be gratefully received0 -
