Got to buy a car that fits 3 car seats in the back

Not sure if I posted in the right forum to be honest...but I'm hoping for some advise.

We're expecting or 3rd child in a couple of month and therefor need to buy a different car. We need a reasonable cheep car that can fit two adults and three children (newborn, 3yr & 4yr old)
My husband and I will have to buy something second hand and are unsure on models or make that would be suitable and I'm hoping that someone here are in the same situation and advice what they drive or give suggestions.
The car also (preferably) needs to be cheep to run. Not drink to much in petrol/diesel and if parts needs repairing that they don't cost to much or need to be imported.

  • Volvo V70 ticks all those boxes, the centre rear seat has an integral booster which will also save you a bob or two. All belts are 3-point, and later models have Isofix fittings.

Would disagree with the Volvo as can be costly as they get old. In the absence of a budget, but noting you say reasonably cheap, I reckon the Picasso would be your best bet. The older Scenic will probably just about fit 3 child seats, however you should check the mountings as it is narrower than the Picasso. The Zafira, although a better car all round, holds its value much better thus will be costlier to buy. Good Luck.

C-max is fun. And not too big. Running costs will be low too.

V70 is best bet, but not the cheapest car out there. Tho one of the best!

what about 307, there are diagonal belts in the back, you should be able to get the 2 booter seats plus the baby seat in there but you will need to check, the boot is also big enough to take a buggy plus all the other stuff, the rear legroom is also good

I would however with 3 kids and their stuff that you go for more of a people carrier type of car, the fiat mulipa (or whatever it's called) is wide and has lots of room between the front and back seats, you may also find that you can recline the back seats which is great when you want to tilt sleeping children back a bit

what you can do if you have all 3 cars seats is take them to the car dealership and try them in the back - we did this and ended up with a seat alhambra - this has 7 seats but we take the back 2 out for added boot space but its great if we are taking friends of the kids out aswell - you can't get 3 seats in the back of the meriva - we found that the only cars that we could get 3 child seats in were the cars with 3 individual seats in the back not ones with one long seat in the back - but the car dealers were quite happy for us to put all 3 seats in the back of one or two cars before we went for a test drive
