I remember when I first moved to Scotland 2 years ago I rented a house in Dalgety Bay. The area was very nice and child friendly it had lovely parks to walk in and a few local amenities it was ideal commuting and the good side was also the fact that the rent was very reasonable as there were such a lot of houses. A nice beach is the one at Burntisland not far away. Inverkeithing is not so good. The little villages can be very nice, it really depends what you want and how far out you want to go. St Andrews is nice and some parts of kirkcaldy as well. There is good and bad areas all over but firstly I would see how much you want to pay for your rent and how central you want to be to certain areas. The down side of living at Dalgety Bay was the drive to Dunfermline as the main shopping outlet and when I went to England the further in fife the more travel. I would work on an extra hour travel from Dalgety Bay area to A1/Edinburgh way and maybe a bit more in rush hour. What I would suggest pick somewhere in Fife that has a good transport system to other parts of fife/Lothian as it keeps your options open for travelling if you don't have your own transport or if it breaks down. The ESPC can list areas in fife and what property is up for rent.

If you contact a local solicitors office contacts on espc they will be able to advise a nice area in fife.
I hope this helps. Elaine (living in Edinburgh)0 -
Hi, i stay in glenrothes and have down now for over 25 years, i did stay futher away in methil for several year only to return.
I also work in edinburgh and travel by car every day, and have to say i don't mind the driving. I set off at 7:00 for a 8:00 start in sighthill area. It's only the odd ocation i'm a bit late due to accidents causing queues on the bridge.
As for bad areas of glenrothes, there used to be a few bad areas but there all gone now (When i say bad i mean really bad). I'd say I'd pretty much stay in any area.Signature what signature....0 -
Dunfermline is nice but getting a bit big and town centre is shabby and best avoided after dark!Saline, Aberdour and Culross are my faves nearby.0

In what area of Edinburgh are you currently living? I might be prepared to swap with you for a 3 bedroom in Fife. Although I am not a particular fan of Fife, I have the best neighbours (wouldn't dream of moving but to be nearer my family). My house is in a nice area.mclaren wrote:Hi, if you live in fife can you help me please. I want to move through from Edinburgh but i dont know alot about the place.
