    Wll to update, I got in this morning, they had cleared all their belongings but it is in a disgusting state. Even the kitchen cupboards are filthy and the electrics (which had been turned off) are in a right state. BUT;
I have had an electrician in today who has put the power back on and made it all safe. He is coming back on monday to sort the boiler out from the electric point of view, and also to put an isolation switch on the oven, as it doesn't have one! The plumber is coming on Monday to sort out the CH. There is so much cr*p in the house that I will need to get a skip delivered tomorrow if I can, to throw it into, (and in the case of the outside shed take that literally.....they obviously kept their dogs in there!)
We have already had a visit from one lot of debt collectors looking for the ex owners, so I presume there will be more. The carpet in the dining room is soaked from the CH drain, and at 12.30 today I just wanted to cry. It has been so hard for me to drag myself back to a better financial state, and I was so looking forward to this move, it has taken the shine off it, to say the least. However, I feel better now, the sparky was great and really helped out (very easy on the eye too, if you know what I mean girls!!) and in the scheme of things, as I intend to stay there forever, it is just a blip. Thank goodness my tenancy has a week or so left is all I can say! I am going in 1st thing with an industrial carpet cleaner and tons of disinfectant and gonna clean clean clean!!
Thanks for all your advice, Joe xx

Not really surprising that cleaning the house wasn't the top priority of the person/family who'd just had their house repossessed. And what a shame they took their possessions with them, you won't be able to steal them now and sell them for your own gain. Ain't life a bummer sometimes

What on earth are you talking about? Where did the OP say he wanted to sell the contents of the house.... Had a repossession experience yourself and a bit touchy, are you ?

Every pound less borrowed (to buy a house) is more than two pounds less to repay and more than three pounds less to earn, over the course of a typical mortgage.

Well, the only was is up so good luck.

I think your general unpleasant experience might be about to become more commonplace in the coming months..... less like the dream process portrayed in the property !!!!!! TV shows. I wonder how much of an appetite for those will there beamongst the viewing public a year from now?

The OP didn't say it, but someone else suggested they could sell the former owners possessions. I was making an observation on the general mean spiritedness of people on this thread by not considering the possible unfortunate circumstances of others. Your implication that a person (in this instance me) might be "touchy" abouy such a circumstance seems to prove my point really doesn't it.

I have been skint all my life and have never lived with dog cr*p in my house, or filthy kitchens, or left a property, rented or owned, in a filthy, uninhabitable, disgusting state for the following occupiers.
And how dare you suggest I wanted to steal things? On what basis do you make that accusation?

I may have been sarcastic but I don't think I was rude considering my comments weren't particularly pointed at you. I wasn't suggesting you would steal things, someone else suggested you could sell the previous owners property. You, yourself asked what you thought you should do with them. I have already explained my comments but for clarity, I am just suggesting that whilst you have had an unpleasant experience, I thought it was fair to draw attention and make some comparisons to losing ones house. No, I haven't been in either situation before but I just thought your experience of finding a dirty house, needed comparison with losing ones home. I agree, there's no excuse for leaving things in the way you have now described as the effort of cleaning and essentially, doing the right thing, costs nothing. However, as we don't know the previous owners situation I thought it would be fair to draw attention to that and we can all feel glad that your mess can be cleaned up with as you said, industrial carpet cleaner and disinfectant. Best wishes.

I have to add that the comment about the possesions in line with you had been left out of pocket... kinda gave me the feeling you 'may' have wanted to sell them. Maybe this wasn't your intent but when you discussed them in parrallel this is the message I got from that.

Just for clarity, as you call it,

    - I didn't buy a repossessed house, I bought as a normal purchase from a normal vendor.
    - If the vendor had been more honest during the process it would have been quicker all round, and not got to repossession.
-They have not lost their home they completed on a purchase the same day.
    - Being as I said that I was at aloss having no working phone number for the vendor, how does that suggest I wanted to sell their goods?

And sarcasm is undoubtedly the lowest form of 'wit'.

You will soon be sorted and this whole saga will be just a minor blip when you look back, in months to come.

It's Easter. Get chocolate - put daffs all over the house - have a nice weekend :kisses:
