I came across a very enthusiastic charity worker person once in a high street wanting to sign me up for a standing order to his charity. I decided to see how long I could keep him talking for.
I did quite well; when he asked why I didn't want to, I explained each of my four reasons at great length - well actually during number three he said "thanks for your time" and beat his retreat :rotfl:
For the record, I do actually have a monthly standing order to charity. The difference is, I chose to do it.0 -
well i am 24 and when anyone with a clip board or charity vest comes up to me and asks if i am over 18 i just say
"i'm only 17, sorry"
although i think i was rumbled the other week, one of them said
"you look old for 17"
i sarcastic thank you from me and she went away
:rofl:things arent the way they were before, you wouldnt even recognise me anymore- not that you knew me back then

            lol
I have even better: "Je ne parle pas Anglais"
and when i am in france, and annoying people want to ask me about a survey on the high street (it smore surveys than credit cards): "I dont speak French"
Or when i feel like playing a prank on them, I say I d be glad to receive an info pack and I fill and imaginary address. makes the company waste money ons ending packs to nowhere."Don't cry, Don't Raise your Eye
It's only teenage wasteland"

This is one of my biggest gripes with supermarkets. I feel they shouldn't do this at all. It's abusing their customer base.
Part of my job role involved training these individuals in a product group for Sainsbury's before they recently laid them all off. And I still don't agree with it all.
I go in there to do my shopping not to get harassed at the door by charity collectors or by salespeople who sell telephone, electrical, credit cards, loans etc If I want one i know where the leaflets are!
I always try to be polite and acknowledge them with a smile, no thanks or similar as I strongly believe manners cost nothing. And as far as charity collectors go they get nothing(most of the time). I am charitable but it amounts to nothing more than begging in my eyes. I like others choose my charitable donations and hate being made to feel like I have to contribute whilst out shopping too.
These sash wearing people in the high streets take the biscuit though, you get past one in in a polite kind of way only to be jumped on by another, then another and then another. They line themselves the entire length of some high streets. The council shouldn't allow it. It makes me boil when they carry on talking to you which turns into a shout as you walk away.
What make me laugh are the australian sales people who sell many of the paint balling activities. They are normally so full on in your face, I can't help but laugh at them (in a kind of you have a really crap job mate way!)
.
I do stop occasionally if I have the time, I was stopped not so long ago in Bromley and asked to do a survey, I obliged to find myself next minute in a room sat at a laptop answering Questions through a headset about the National Lottery advertising amongst others! Wasn't too bad.0 -
Isn't the cashback also something like 0.5% or 5p for every £10 spent?0
