Why does the OP not go via Turkey? Fly to Turkey & change?
    .
Choice of a 6 hour flight into Ercan (1 hour on ground in Turkey), or a cheap 4 hour charter flight into Larnaca.

Very nice Hotel and run to high European standards, great Jazz Club only let down by very expensive drinks ( 4 x local prices).

TTOLI - I agree the border has been open for a few years now without problem and there is hopes another point at Ledra Street will be open soon (as featured in todays Cyprus Mail) but it's not to say the volatile past couldn't reignite - rightly or wrongly I was just erring on the side of caution when I wrote my post.
Yep, i take your point on board, just get a bit fed up after a while of the GC propaganda machine.

But you would get the Turkish stop over time back in no traveling time across the island when you land.

    But cheap charter flights:beer:
  • There are no flights from scotland to turkey in winter but loads to cyprus cheaper and quicker even scheduled airlines are cheap

I don't know what flight times they "tell" you it is.

But its NOT quicker to fly to Cyprus than Turkey.

Look on an atlas, Cyprus is due south (further south) than Turkey, nestled right in underneath it, about mid way between Turkey & Egypt.

So whoever told you its quicker to fly to Cyprus is wrong:rotfl:

Point that you are missing is the connecting flight thru to Ercan LGW-AYT 4hrs
1 Hour on Ground, AYT (Antayla)- ECN(Ercan) 1 hour = 6 Hours in total compared to a straight 4 hr flight LGW - LCA, i could well be wrong though,i've only flown that routing 20 plus times:confused::confused::confused:

I wasn't addressing the whole thread, just that posts were saying it was quicker to fly to Cyprus than Turkey.

I too do fly to both, I was just trying help point out the difference between flight quoted times & actual.
