my Dad paid for Firefox last week, I was not amused....

Get him to demand a refund, I believe the people who paid for google earth and flash player are claiming a refund. It's ridiculous otherwise, at the very least get him to cancel his subscription as it's not a one off payment which he may not have realised if he didn't realise about firefox being free.

  • Hi
I also have the MS Office demo on my Gateway laptop from Tesco. Works is also installed and fits my needs. Can I and is it safe to uninstall this?
Will I lose my games if I uninstall? I'm a secret Spider Solitaire Addict!
    Many thanks.

You can uninstall the office demo and/or works without affecting each other or affecting the other programs on your laptop (such as critically essential programs like games ;), they are not a part of office/works ).

Ha! Fan of, but also used to run Company of Tree Surgeons, so it seemed to fit. You can call me Jo :D

    Many thanks for advice.

    No and yes.

You can have two office suites (or more) installed, just like you can have many different browsers. The only difference is which one is set to open filetypes (i.e. .doc files) by default. But you can open it with either. I used to have office 2003 and openoffice installed at the same time. I don't now because I have Office 2007 Ultimate which is vastly better than Openoffice so I don't need it. But there's no need to uninstall Word.

As for Norton, yes you need to uninstall it and use the removal tool as well as it's a pain to get rid of all the crap it leaves behind. http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT/tsgeninfo.nsf/docid/2005033108162039
You can't have 2 antivirus programs installed at the same time as they do conflict with each other.

don't need to uninstall word, but it doesn't work, so why not? openoffice is fantastic, and free (i imagine donations are probably welcome)
