    That's fantastic news.

For a £200 charge I would get peace of mind, a £50 saving on fuel and £800 of deals on my Tesco Clubcard credit card. I think I will be following suit.

I bought recently from an alternative company on t'internet. Like yourselves, i was concerned throughout at the lack of information, including the inability to tell me what the registration plate of my new car would be.

Everything turned out OK, but I wouldn't particularly take this route again. I have been recommended by a car salesperson to get quotes from the net and then enquire locally, armed with these quotes.

Before the car sales reps retort...this was a sales rep still in the business. She told me that local outlets can effectively do what the internet guys are doing alongside the normal sales. If you go in with a specific car in mind and all your homework done, then all they have to do is place an order with the manufacturer and pass the car through the system in exactly the same way. Yes, it involves paperwork and yes, it involves a PDI etc. But that happens whichever route you take. If you go to a net dealer, they pass your business on to a normal dealer in the majority of cases.

One more thing, although it may be a little too late for you chaps here. If you want to buy a car on a credit card...
    • Get a card that offers an interest free period, preferably 12 months or more.
    • Do your normal spending on it for a month or two before you buy your car.
    • Use the cash in the bank that is required to pay the credit card off to pay for the car, without the 2% fee.
    • Repay yourself into a savings account for the length of the interest free period.
    • Voila - credit card payment for a vehicle. no interest or fees!
    Thanks in advance,

Yes I got my car on tuesday and was quite impressed with the service. We paid the deposit by credit card and then paid the balance on monday afternoon by a bank transfer. Gary at the company said the car would be delivered sometime in the afternoon. I live in Fife and the car was coming from the Midlands so it would depend on the traffic. My new car arrived at 0930 tuesday morning. The man who brought it was very pleasant and helpful and had set off at 0400hrs.

After all the uncertainty it went very smoothly!!

I purchased the new Focus and it was supplied by Brooklyn Motors. Not that it means much but the reg plates have the dealer details on them and came with one of their complementary key rings so it all seems okay to me and would say not to worry!!

    Hope that helps.
  • I have ordered a car with cheap cars online some time back and find their customer service almost non existant. I am now having to chase them for updates without much success.

I wonder if InnesL has received your car yet? It would be great to find out, as it is now overdue.

If anyone else has experience of cheap cars online I would welcome their input.

    Thanks

Yes, my car arrived dead on time and I collected it from their site. There are two issues that they seem in no hurry to fix.

1 The user manual is out of date and I have been promised an updated one (no biggie)

    2. The dealer who PDIs the cars did not stamp the service record book. I was promised that this would be sent in the post next day. 4 Weeks and 2 chases later no joy Big deal as I need it for the first service any day now!!

    Customer service is variable
  • InnesL. Thank you for your response. It is reassuring to note that you received your car, but obviously customer service is still a major issue. Somehow, they do not seem bothered at all in this area.
Not a good way to run a business.

    Thanks

I am delighted to confirm that I now have my service book (after only one more phone call).

The only remaining hurdle is the V5, but it is early days for this.

I have to say that in general I have been happy, the car is great and the price was astounding.

When I picked up the car their attitude to customer service was very much we try our best, but we sell on price not service.

I guess that you have to cut corners somewhere, but I have to say all in all I have had worse customer service from places like Barclays and B&Q so I am not going to crucify them for a slighly frustrating hiccup.
