Well, we've been for a visit! We actually camped in a lovely site on a hill near Southwell (edingley I think). The view was amazing. We visited southwell the first morning and popped into a couple of estate agents and picked up some property details. we were like kids in a sweet shop! The prices compared to SWlondon are amazing. Anyway I really liked Southwell, could have had a few more useful shops and lively pubs but on the whole nice. Other half said he wasn't sure he could live in Southwell, but he liked the surrounding villages. We drove around the villages .. fiskerton, Bleasby, thrugarton.. Really liked Bleasby. I saw loads of paddocks and horses in the area so I loved it.

We were a little disappointed with Newark itself. It was full of estate agents and hairdressers, although I didn't see too many funky hair dos walking around. The folk were mainly young mums or oldies.. (maybe just the tiime of day!) We drove around the residential areas and again a bit disappointed. There was a lot of 'estate' type areas. I guess I'm too used to the leafy avenues of the borough of Richmond!! Went to Cafe Bleu in Newark which was very very good.

the result is that I could live in Southwell and around, but the OH is not so sure at the moment. He worries that I'll be off on my horse and he'll be bored. He still likes big nights out in town and I think he's worried he'll miss out. But alls not lost. We are going to go again and have a look at the north and south of Newark and Nottingham and Derby.
