  • Well I can only wish you all good luck-sincerely and I actually hope it does last-regardless of my own moralising over it -its just what Tesco deserve!I didnt wish to cause any offense to anyone here with my moralising-its just my own take on it and on this particular thread Im in the minority but on other tesco threads on MSE I would actually be on the majority but it really doesnt bother me any way. Yes I agree about the "be nice to other moneysavers"-and I dont wish to be nasty at any time but I still think as I do. Well-time will indeed tell!

I did a £110 shop today(tesco extra stockport). They would only take 10% in non tesco/bought coupons. they said they would take internet coupons but you have to purchase the item, thaught that bit was fair. BUT only 10% and to top it all off would not let me use the tesco clothing coupons, i did buy some cloths but not enough to use all of them.

I accept what they said, without argument...
o be honest with the coupons i used(£25) and the 1350 points from the shop today cant be to upset with that.
PS, £25 used in coupons, one of them was for £11 huggies basket.

    Hi,

Where do you get all your coupons from? I got some of the £1 & £1.25 from the pregnanacy mag last month but I wanted to get some others to mix in with these as it looks obvious handing these in every week?

Many thanks in advance for advise where to get others from - I have managed to get the odd one off packets in the past or in papers.

    Thanks Lisa

If your store accepts internet prints without buying the product (many Tesco will) then print some from the 'printable coupons' thread on MSE. Do a search to find it and then read back from the last post for the most recent coupons, check they are in date before printing. There are still quite a few in date on that thread.

Have a look at www.money-off-coupons.blogspot.com for a good summary of current printables, start at the top & again check expiry before printing as those lower down the list are out of date.

Print more from www.couponnet.co.uk (it will let you print 2 of each offer from each pc you are able to use).

Register with Purina, Pedigree & Whiskas websites (of course you have a cat and a dog, even a virtual one will do, lol!). They send you coupons to print.

Register with Pampers, Bounty, MumplusOne and Huggies (Google to find the sites - of course you have a baby or a virtual pregnancy!).

In Spring & Summer pick up coupons from goodie bags & stalls at Foodie/Health/Baby shows. Often held in London & Birmingham, & elsewhere. Go in & out a few times or past the same stall a few times, getting more coupons each time to more than cover your entrance fee.

Pop in large Supermarkets in the daytime to try to suss out when they have demo stalls. I found out that a Sainsburys near me is very good at having taster sessions, often with a batch of coupons. Even if you only get given 2 coupons, you will usually find others tucked in near the product on the shelf and many in empty baskets at the till and trolleys outside, as people don't use them and don't realise their value. But make sure you only bother if the coupons are not Sainsbury's specific or specific to any store, you'll have to study the t&cs.

Buy them on ebay. Check that coupons are not store-specific and what the expiry dates are, avoid Eukanuba or Safe to Eat coupons (not scannable at T) and question any seller that says 'various magazine coupons' which may be a smoke-screen for those cut from Supermarket magazines with a store logo on (no good). If it's not clear about the coupons, ask a question before bidding.

Finally, check the newspaper thread on MSE every morning and bulk-buy if a high-value coupon that scans at Tesco is reported. And check the magazine thread started by MBN every other day, for similar MOC reports. That's where the news of the P&B magazine coupons was first posted (not the current issue BTW, for newbies).

    hi,

which coupons can you use at the self scan without setting it off. Is is ones starting with 99 or is this the ones where the supervisor comes.
I have three coupons and wish to try this out, but am a little scared as i won't be buying the products.

    Thanks

As a newbie, don't go to the self-scan with coupons, it's enough to give you a coronary!

I am very confident with coupons but I don't use the self-scan unless I am only buying one thing & using one coupon (e.g. bread for £1.12 and putting in a Huggies coupon for £1, even then it needs authorising but that's not a problem, they seem to authorise the first one without noseying at you. And I know it's OK to use coupons like this in case I do get queried).

It's most coupons starting with 99 and which don't state a specific Supermarket, that you can use (as long as in date). But most self-scans will call for authorisation over a certain % or certain number of coupons - the amount depends on how your store has set it.

If you are in a large Tesco, then just go to a young, friendly-looking SA at the till and when handing over your clubcard at the end, smile & ask if they can scan any of your coupons off please? If they ask if you've bought the items be ready to say 'no I haven't this time, but I have been told Tesco policy will allow some of them anyway'.

If you really get a 'moo' at the till she may still refuse - in which case you could politely ask for a Supervisor to check as you are sure the policy is as you understand it. IMHO most Supervisors do know their store policy, which at the very least is likely to allow one coupon - and should in fact allow one of each type of coupon.

So my advice is to be confident & not think you are doing anything that has to be 'hidden' at the self-scan. The opposite is true if you want to use coupons long-term, you need to build your confidence up at the normal tills and suss out who is a happy-scanner of coupons (and who isn't).

    Good luck!

Just don't forget their classic get out:

    "at the managers discretion"

My local store just changed to 10% off coupons only..... hope everyone else's stores are more reasonable.
