Clinton Cards Service?

Options
I had a rather bad experience at clinton cards, followed by a rather good one at clinton cards, which begs the question, what are they being taught by the management. Normally I buy my cards from there as they do offer the best quality for cards, although not the best prices I hasten to add. This is my email to them.

"I would like to express my opinions at how the service was my local branch of Clinton Cards. I asked for some help to decide on a few items for my girlfriend as our anniversary is next week, as well as my older brothers wedding on easter weekend, only for the sales assistant (Grace - I made a mental note of her name), to be rude to myself, loud - shouting at the staff to "jump on the till", abrupt with her level of service, just saying "here is what your looking for" and walking off, and bad manored, by walking away as I was speaking to her.

Whereas I went to another member of staff (Claire - again making a mental note of her name), who has been so polite and helpful. She has made the experience rather enjoyable and gave me some good advice for small gifts, and she was a pleasure to do business with.

I find that the level of service from some people is below adequate, whereas the level of service from others is absolutely fantastic, but overall the performance can be improved if the attitudes of some members of staff were better, and they had a smile on their faces as customers like myself walk in.

Today has been a rather odd experience to say the least, but I thought it prudent that I raise this with whoever is going to recieve this e-mail. I hope that I have helped in raising the standards of Clinton Cards as a whole

Regards

Carl"

What were you saying then when she walked off? It otherwise sounds like you'd been taken to the section you were looking for. Surely she's allowed to ask other members of staff to go on till if theres a queue? If she whispers it their not going to hear so a clear voice would be needed. All sounds a bit petty to me.

To be honest, without a little more detail about what actually happened, they are probably going to find it hard to act upon your complaint. If you feel you were poorly treated, then it is usually best to describe the circumstances of the incident in full, as anyone trying to discipline the member of staff who you complained about hasn't really got much to go on.

she shouted, loudly, and I asked her about what sort of cards they have (Funny, soppy etc) and she walked off mid question, as i was looking and speaking to her. yes ok she can say for people to go on the till, but shouting it whilst talking to a customer is hardly the right way to go. I am all for the business to get people on the till to get service done quickly and efficiently but surely the assistant manager / superviser people could have asked for people to do that?!

I love the way how you "made mental notes " of their names!

I found that odd as well. Thats what happens when people stop acting like a customer and think they're some sort of inspector!

I always make mental notes of peoples names, because if they have been nice to me when serving me, i will say so to there managers, but if they have been bad, i will go straight to the HR office, if its average service then thats that!

Just like I thought. Some people love to consider themselves some sort of inspector:rolleyes:

Some sort of complex going on there!

It reminds me of being back at school at the "I'm telling on you" sort of person.

Well if thats how I am seen then thats how I am seen, I don't see myself as some sort of inspector, but I do expect a good level of service, especially when the companies pride themselves on the customer service.

Take "Next" for example, I love to go in there in my local area, as the service is just amazing, I find someone, and they are with me right through until I go to the till. I get them to give me there honest opinion on how something will look at me, not just the sales thing, and they are really good. But the service in clintons that day was just poor to say the least (apart from the girl who was really nice).
