Cheaper man made V pricier natural fibre?

I am planning to put new carpet in my lounge and bedroom. I like the modern style 'weave' carpet in neutral colours which seems popular at the moment. Shop assistant tells me that 100% wool will stain easily and will not wear as well as 100% polypropylene. He suggests that 80/20 twists are the best compromise but these are not available in 'weave' styles.

The polypropylene are much cheaper than the wool carpets but is it likely I will have to spend just as much money replacing it again in a couple of years?

Any suggestions on which I should go for?

i cant advise on the technical side but i have just ordered a carpet similar to your description in a neutral colour and its 100% wool and i have a toddler so thats going to be interesting!
However ours is going on the stairs and bedrooms only. My advice would be to ask the opinion of another carpet shop particularly the smaller shops as the advice i have gotten from a local independent compared to Allied and Carpetright has been excellent. It might just be my local Allied and Carpetright but their customer services was lousy and the staff were very rude.
The general advice i have received is to go for 100% wool and that the carpet cleaners and stain removal sprays are pretty good - i'll let you know!
