    wd40 seems to work fo lots of things like that, or petrol dabbed onto a cloth!

    hi
    i use mayonaise, leave it on for 10-15 minutes to soak in, and it just rubs off and disolves away
    i have used this when after buying new items they have the sticky stickers on and leave marks or dont come off when you try to peel them off,
    works a treat

    What ever you try make sure you test it somewhere where it will not be seen.

    Some solvents will melt the uPVC.

    I would worry about Using nail varnish remover myself.

    Many thanks for all the suggestions - husband amazed at my DIY know-how, bank balance saved, door pristine and marriage saved - not bad for one weekend!
