Hello everyone, I'd love to join in but I am a bit scared of ebay. I'm scared of listing things that don't sell, then actually losing money on listing fees. How much does it cost to list something that doesn't sell?

Also - has anyone had any success selling books on ebay? I regularly sell on Amazon, but have a lot of books that are down to 1p on Amazon (eg science fiction/fantasy genre paperbacks). Are these worth selling on ebay?

Sorry for the questions! And thanks to anyone who has some advice!

I have never sold books on ebay I think Amazon, Greenmetropolis and play are better
  • Yeah!! Made £49.22 on ebay tonight from 8 items, and got 4 more listed so still 27 items still on. Must admit I cant even remember some of the stuff we have posted in past few days so obviously not needed any of it!! Do feel a bit sorry for DS 1 and 2 as their stuff seems to go for the most money, although it is stuff they havent touched for weeks, months etc..

    Hi,
Well don't feel like I am doing very well with this. I have been thinking of doing some buying and selling of new items (not sure what yet), but I know you have to declare yourself as a business if you do this. Does it all get very complicated if you do this and does anyone know how much you can earn like this before having to pay tax, etc.

Hi jess, I think if you buy things in for the purpose of selling, then you have to inform the Inland Revenue, submit a tax return etc etc. If you are just selling your own stuff, then there is no need to declare it - up to £5,000. I believe this is true but I hope someone else can confirm.

Very frustrating, we photographed 8 or 9 things today to put up and my OH is still faffing about perfecting the photos. I'm dying to get listing but he just won't give me the pics!
