Can I use PAC for transferring from an old O2 contract to a new one?

I'm going to cancel my O2 contract as soon as it is allowed and also ask for my PAC. Will they allow me to use it for another O2 contract and do they charge for doing so?

You can only go from your current network to a different network. So from o2 to any other network but not back o2. You will have to use the pac to a payg sim on a different network (i hear Virgin are good for this) then get a pac from virgin to o2 again.

It depends. If you are on the newer billing system called Companion, no, if you're on the older one that was inherited from the BT Cellnet days called DISE then yes you can! The easy way of knowing is just to call customer care and ask, but the general rule of thumb is, if you still get the older style bills with just a blue band across the top, you're on DISE, if you have the newer style bills with lighter blue band along the top and pictures on it, you're on companion. This isnt always the case as some DISE customers still get the old style bills but have been migrated onto Companion, all very confusing, but if you have had your contract for less than about 4 years, and you aren't a business customer, the chances of you being on DISE are slim. Hope this helps.

    CC limits £26000

    Long term CC debt £0

Total low rate loan debt £3000

    Almost debt free feeling, priceless.

Ex money nightmare, learnt from my mistakes and never going back there again, in control of my finances for the first time in my adult life and it feels amazing.

Thanks for the helpful replies. I am still a couple of months away from the end of my contract and I am only looking at my options now.
I am not really fussed about having to keep the same number but if it was quite easy to do I might ask for my pac should I choose to move to a different network. If I find a good cashback deal with O2 then perhaps I will have to pac over to a payg sim(I already have a virgin sim that I could use - unless it has to be new) and shift back to O2 as mcmanlyn suggests.
