    I would disagree with that.

Why not ask someone who isnt involved with UK housing? Eg a homeowner from mainland europe.

I could tell you the answer but the term 'laughing stock' should not be used in polite conversation.

Because it would be like asking my 86 year old nan for an indepth review of the latest Playstation 3 game. i.e. she couldn't give a s*** ...and she has no knowledge of the subject, so her comments would be worthless anyway.

Richard Branson is dyslexic isn't he. I also recall him saying that he asked a colleague once after a big money business meeting to explain the diference between Net and Gross. He hasn't done too badly for himself.

I hate it when people confuse pedantry and a head for facts and figures with 'intelligence'. If those people on TV shows like 'Eggheads' or '15 to 1' were intelligent, they would be too busy spending their millions to appear on second rate TV shows. Some of the world's wealthiest people can't spell or add up for toffee, they don't have 10 GCSEs and they aren't pub quiz masters.
Well, what about people who confuse intelligence with wealth, some people who are intelligent may realise that wealth doesn't equal happiness............ I don't know, I'm not intelligent enough to get very rich. :p

Very true. I knew I had that coming when I posted it.

Given that just about EVERYBODY has a vested interest in house prices, has anyone read an unbiased, balance view of the housing market at present?

Seems that articles in broadsheet papers are flooded with comments from hardcore pesimists (who clearly don't have houses at the moment) or those (who clearly have bought recently) who believe prices will continue to remain stable.

What's unbiased and balanced? A view that conforms with what you want to hear?

About a year ago the Chief Economist at Morgan Stanley was suggesting house prices were overvalued and could crash. He had no reason to do so other than his reputation. People chose to dismiss him as ONLY one economist amongst many.
