Meyer Anolon Professional Cookware Warranty Sham

Thanks Shopaholic. I appreciate that there are two sides to every argument and of course that there will be good and bad experiences. However this is not a one off incident as I have found from other postings on the Internet.
I have contated Trading Stds and they are on the case. It seems that I do have a legitimate case which I will pursue.
Can I just ask why they would say that they can't replace the whole set when only one was damaged as per your post?shoppaholic wrote:I have a set of anolon pans and i can honestly say that they are the best I have had. I did have a pan that went a funny colour and i found the need to have to contact Meyer customer services. I got the details from my guarantee and i got through to a very helpful lady without having to wait in a long queue (not usual nowadays). To cut a long story short, my teenage son had put one of my pans in the dishwasher (he didn't know they were not supposed to go in the dishwasher). This made the outside of the pan turn a stained white colour. I have since found out that this is because of the dishwasher detergent but it is also in alsorts of other cleaning products but not just standard washing up liquid. The young lady explained that whilst she could not replace the whole set given the circumstances, a replacement was despatched as a gesture of goodwill, THEY EVEN REFUNDED MY POSTAGE!!! The packing was excellent also. This goodwill gesture has done nothing but spread my recommendations to my friends and family and I have even bought more pans in the range. I would suggest that you contact Trading Standards as they have to give impartial advise as to whether you have a genuine guarantee claim or not. Don't waste your money on a small claims court unless you think you have a genuine grievance. I personally can only sing meyer's praises, QUALITY COOKWARE AND QUALITY AFTER SALES.Happiness is wanting what you have, not having what you want.

Sorry to hear of the problems with your Analon cookware. Maybe someone in the household has put the items in a dishwahser. I am retired and have owned a set of these pans for 3 years (a retirement gift). I cook with them on a regular basis and have a large family family who come to see me and as cooking is a hobby of mine i am always cooking for them. I always wash them with warm soapy water and they are the best pans I have owned and are as good now as when i received them. I have looked at my use and care for you and it does clearly say not to wash in a diswasher. Hand washing is recommended. Anyway hope you get it sorted to your satisfaction0

Thanks for you reply rose. I live alone and don't own a dishwasher so theres no way that could have happened! As in the original post I have only ever used washing up liquid.Happiness is wanting what you have, not having what you want.

Hi Bob, Good luck with your case with Trading Standards. As for me, I must admit that I had to push my luck a little 'cause we all have to go for what we can get nowadays. I did ask them to change the set (rather cheeky of me I know). Even so, I was pleased that they changed just the one 'cause I know that it was not a genuine warranty claim. As long as your pans are clean and not turned white on the outside and bashed up/scratched nonstick then you will be ok. I know the pans are expensive but nothing is indestructable when not used strictly to the manufacturers instructions ! Good luck.0

Hi Rose. I am pleased to hear that you are happy aswell. It does concern me that we are turning out a bit like America. I personally can't believe that a company such as Meyer would treat customers in this way as I had absolutely wonderful service from the company and the pans. I remain a happy customer.0

I've had the same experience - my Meyer Anolon chef's pan has stopped being non-stick. They claim that it has been over-heated and sharp implements used. It has not been subjected to abnormally high heat (only normal frying) and sharp implements have never been used.
Does anyone have a positive experience of challenging them when the fail to honour their guarantee?0 -
I see this is a long running thread. I try to avoid using manufacturers guarantees wherever possible and go back to the original vendor whenever I can. I simply keep my receipts and take them along with faulty goods. If the vendor is large enough, say like John Lewis, they will have much more clout with the manufacturer than you will. I took an Anolon pan back after 2 years use as it had become unusable and asked for a replacement and although there was a bit of 'beard tugging' and 'head scratching', the item was replaced. I must say the pans do work well, but pretty they are not. I only use wooden tools and never put in a dishwasher but the outside of the pans in particular look pretty unacceptable after a few months use - even though guaranteed for much longer. These are nice non-stick pans so long as you have somewhere to hide them when not in use or are not to embarrased if your friends see them.0

I bought 2 Circulon pans, a 28 cm skillet and a 30 cm stir fry wok from Debenhams in Dec 2007.
Like a lot of posters here, I hardly use it and when I do, I followed the care and instructions to a T. I even bought a specialised anondized cleaner for the outside of the pans.
Barely a year later, the non-stick function fail to work and so I emailed Meyer's Customer Service who advised me to post the pans to them for inspection.
It was returned, unchanged and the snotty response they gave me was that 'grease has carbonised and the pans have been exposed to excessive heat'. Total rubbish as I cleaned the pans out after every use and they have never been into an oven. Moreover, I never even let the pans get to a smoking hot point.
Suffice to say, being disappointed and somewhat angry, I contemplate what to do next. Shall I go to a Small Claims Court; or just bring it back to Debenhams for an exchange. I don't have the receipt anymore though.
Any advice?0 -
The standard response from the company it seems. I got nowhere and didn't bother going to the small claims court due to ill health. Suffice to say I would never touch a product made by this company again and tell everyone not to buy them if the subject ever comes up. I think theres enough evidence around to suggest that they don't give a damn.
I wonder where old Ms Jones the shoppaholic has gone, does she still work for the company?Happiness is wanting what you have, not having what you want.
