Missing WLAN?

Hi

Im connected to the internet using Tiscali and a wireless router DG834G.

Yesterday I couldnt get connected as my laptop couldnt find the network. Ive managed to get connected using a cable from the laptop to the wireless router, but without it nothing happens.

I rang tiscali and after a long time discussing it, they told me my WLAN was missing and I should contact someone to look at my laptop.

I got connected the day before, no problem, so if my WLAN has gone somewhere, i dont know where! Of course my laptop is 13 months old so is out of warranty (its a compaq presario V6000.

Can anyone give me any guidance? I have done a search but cant find anything to help?

Dont take this the wrong way but is the wireless connection enabled on the laptop? ive done it before..

I think so....the sliding button is in its normal position and the light is on....

I dont take anything the wrong way. I would be over the moon if it was something simple!

have you tried to reboot the router? is tiscali through a phone line adsl or cable?

also check... go into control panel then network an internet then network and sharing center and see if you can see your wireless connection in there after the reboot

Ive tried a reboot and still nothing. Im using internet through a phone line.

I can get to the network and sharing centre, but not sure where to look after that? Im using vista (if that helps!)

take a look for the connection and see what it says mine says the wireless network connection then show what it is..also look if the network discovery is on also.. another thing to look for is that the wireless light is showing on, on the router..

Is it the siemens gigaset you're having problems with?
I just joined tiscali a month ago and they sent me one of those. Cut a long story, yawn, short, after lots of emails and phone calls to them about it not connecting wirelessly.... eventually one of the techs asked am I working off vista, I told him I was and 2 days later a Thomson router arrived, which installed fine, no probs since. Don't know if it was the router or vista but he seemed to stop trying things when I said I use vista

ive got the same problem.

ive now purchased two wireless adapters, both of which have stopped working!!! The green light comes on but just will not connect. Connects fine with ethernet cable, so no idea what the problem is!!! looks like 60 quid wasted!!
this has happened on two different computers with both wireless adapters.

pcs recognise them, the lights come on, sometimes the connection shows up but still they wont connect.
