I have received a letter today from Intrum Justitia saying I owe £25 to Britannia and "It may have been several months since you were last contacted about this matter"
Several months? I haven't had a Britannia membership in several YEARS I have been in and out an IVA since then and wasn't aware they were ever a creditor?
Is this legit or a scam?
Should I be asking for proof of debt?
I am not too fussed about paying it - its only £25 but just a bit concerned its a ripoff?
Any ideas?

I too have received a letter from IJ stating that I owe £18.58. I do not owe anything, and contacted them. They were unhelpful and stated that I should take it up with Britannia. It is well over 2 years since I had any dealings with Britannia and my account was settled in full. I have told IJ I neither recoginse or acknowledge the debt.0

Thanks for that.
I will write to them asking for proof of debt as I don't acknowledge any debt.0 -

That was the gist of the Watchdog programme. In order to enforce any payment they must supply and exact breakdown of the debt and what it's for. According to the programme the debt collecting agency were only supplied with a list of names, addresses and amounts but nothing more. So definitely request the proof of debt otherwise just ignore it. They can't do anything without going to court and they'd have to supply a proof of debt to the court anyway."She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"

Intrum Justitia work on the basis of harassment and threats. Basic scum tactics.
As above, ask for proof of the debt, and send a cease and desist letter to stop the harassment.0 -
On a positive note, Britannia were the source of so many complaints over the years both from people who never understood the concept that they had to buy a further 4,6,8 items over 1,2 years, or about Britannia continuing to send the album of the month after they had cancelled. What a shame they have gone out of business. Downloading has a lot to answer for0

I too got at letter from IJ. I had no idea that Channel were actually Britannia Music or I wouldn't have touched them with a barge pole. I was in dispute with them for sending me goods I did not order. I had ordered other items which they were unable to supply so they went ahead and sent me the magazine choice instead. My bill was for £31.77 - which considering the item they sent was only £17.99 was a bit steep. I hadn't heard anything back from them after I told them to come and pick the damn thing up as I wasn't paying for it - until this letter.Unfortunately I paid up as I'm a self employed contractor working in finance and a black mark against my name (like a CCS) could easily scupper my chances of getting another contracting post, and then I'd really be in the brown stuff. I'll stick to Amazon and co0
