A mate of mine serves her kids (and her eldest serves him self quite often)
tinned meat balls and value noodles.
Cook the noodles heat meat balls up put the noodles in a bowl (or plate if not using sauce)and pop meat balls on top, I am unsure whether the sauce id used to though as i've never tried.
Step son 2 thinks meatballs only come from a tin and asked why I didn't have any in my cupboard!!! I said if I do meatballs then they come from a packet of meat and I make them
Then again they both say their step-dad "made dinner" for them and on further questioning - he opened a tin of spaghetti and zapped it in the microwave :rolleyes:Newlywed at the point I joined the forum... now newly separated0 -
this one's a bit similar to an earlier one but thought i'd add my two-penneth.
cook some frozen peas
mash up a tin of corned beef with a tin of potatoes, stir in the cooked peas
shape into burgers
IF you had an egg and some spare manky stale bread then coat with egg and breadcrumbs, if not it doesn't matter.
Fry off, serve with any frozen veggies you have lying around, and if you can, an egg on top!

I really will have to get my thinking cap on.
Finally thought of one, but I must admit I haven't cooked it in ages, as I only had a stray packet of Aduki Beans in the cupboard when I was on a healthy eating kick and they do need to be pre-soaked overnight if not canned, but they're actually quite nice!
Anyways, ingredients as follows
Aduki beans(pre-soaked, if using can beans no need for boiling to death!)
handful of pearl barley
chicken stock cube
splash of worcestershire sauce
bit of marmite
squeeze of tomato puree
bit of vegetable bouillon
tin of sliced mushrooms
can of value plum tomatoes
mug or so of water
Boil to death and then thicken with diluted cornflour and use as a substitute for mince, as I recall I made lasagne with it, but we're not mentioning pasta. I suppose if you add a can of carrots and top with Smash, you've got Sheperd's Pie.0 -
Straight to Wok noodles, 1 tin of mixed Chinese Veg, a hand full of frozen pea all in the Wok with a splash of Oyster sauce and a splash of Soy sauce. Quick and tasty Veg Chow Mein. DD loves this sometimes I add some left over chicken if I've planned to do this meal but 9/10 its something we eat because we've got home late and dd needs feeding quickSorting my life out one day at a time0

I've just served up a ready made pizza for my 4yr old's tea.......bad mummy!
This reminded me of the pizzas I used to make myself when I was about 12yrs old. Delia Smith had a recipe in her Complete Cookery Course book for a Scone base pizza, she got the recipe from someone when she used to be on Multi-coloured Swap Shop. I don't know if that would count as it involves marg and cheese, but I thought I'd share. Anyway, I remember it being quick and easy, as I said, I was only twelve at the time.
Make a scone mix with 4oz sr flour, 1oz marg and pinch of salt, roll out and top as a normal pizza, I would use tinned toms, tuna and sweetcorn with whatever leftover cheese that may be left in the fridge, then bake for 15-20mins in 220°C
This is also a good recipe as I don't have a bread maker and can't be bother to make dough by hand. I must give this a try for my little 'uns0 -

I know that we're not supposed to be using pasta, but ...
I've done myself just 100g of spaghetti, and tossed it with some grated Parmesan cheese and a sprinkle of ground black pepper. Squisito.
Or, fry a finely chopped or crushed clove of garlic in 1 tablespoon of olive oil per person and toss the spaghetti with this. Omit the Parmasan cheese: it doesn't go with this dressing and is never added indiscriminately in Italy. This dish is actually a classic one and is called "Aglio e Olio".The acquisition of wealth is no longer the driving force in my life.
