Have I got an Isa

I know it sounds foolish,I am so disorganized
I thought, I took out an isa for this year,I have now recieved a letter from ing saying I have not used this years allowance, can there records tell even if I have put it elsewhere,Which I may have done.
Is there any way of finding whether I have used it already and what would happen if I did try to use it again this year.
I will try to find out if I have put it elsewhere, but do not want to miss the deadline
many thanks

ING can only tell you if you have paid them money!
There is not one institution you can go to to ask if you have saved ISA money somewhere.
How on earth can you forget if you have saved money somewhereIn fact Ive just remembered, you owe me £50. Can't you remember?

I have to agree with you when you say 'it sounds foolish';) check to see if you have any paperwork .. if you do try to open another when you have already used this years 07/08 allowance you will get a slap on the wrist from HMRC as it will become apparent (not sure how but it does ) that you have done so...#6 of the SKI-ers Club :j

Thanks
I must get things in order.
If I did pay in again to ing, from my other ing account do you think it would cause problems.
It is possible I may have paid it to "egg"0 -

That sounds slightly less important ... than resolving whether you've got an up to £3k hole in your pocket.
Go through your current / savings account and see if there's a significant and rounded chunk of money showing as a debit with no explanation? Go through your financial papers and look for the normal start up certificate that's issued etc.
There's no one that can tell you .. other than you ... if you've deposited outside ING. Only HMRC ... much later in next year .... if you do duplicate.
And get a spreadsheet / Word doc with a table in it ..... to list all your financial products! If I die .. the OH hasn't a clue where our money is, despite I tell her frequently. But there's several well backed up files on the PC that will tell her. Not that she will know where to look .. so I'll add that to the funeral service! If you want to test the depth of the water .........don't use both feet !0 -
Do check with egg or check through your paperwork there must be some paperwork... It will only cause a problem if have already used your allowance up... can you check statements for your bank or wherever you might of taken the money for the ISA from, to see if there are any £3000 transfers and it would also tell you where it went...#6 of the SKI-ers Club :j

Well had a good look and phoned up egg, and no isa there, appears the ing one was opened late mar 07, so must have been that one, did not seem that long ago.
No lump sums of £3000 from any of my accounts so all seems good.
( I had not thought of doing that)
Will sort an isa now , and again in april, and list it all down safely this time
Thanks all for the good advise as always.0
