But quite true - might look, smell and even taste (a bit) like ham, but it's not.

_pale_ and THAT is why I buy gammon joints and boil or roast them to make my own ham.

    Thanks all

Will give a few ideas a go - might try the pinwheels, and cheese and ham toasties. Am thinking of doing D&DDs bread laf with a hamand cheese filling - i suppose its sort of the same thing thinking about it.

Would add the dog will more than likely get some too as there is way to much and we wont be able to eat it all

PurpleIvy - hi chick, yeah we are ok, boyfriend wages were messed up again this month so have been being extra careful with what we spend (he was £300 short again) so have been baking and cooking even more. Plus my friend injured her back quite badly recenty so have been helping her out with cleaning/cooking and taking her little one to school. Shes up and about now so fingers crossed shes on the mend. Bu yes i am here, just popping in on threads - not posting so much because of the extra things ive had to do but i am here.
    Time to find me again
  • I got a couple of packs of wafer thin chicken reduced in Tesco yesterday. It's not something I'd normally buy and would just eat it out of the packet as a snack but as it's two packets I was wondering how I could use it in a meal for three of us - but not anything salady. Any ideas anyone?

  • Thanks, reading the link I think I'll slice it up and have it with pasta.
  • Anyone have any meal tips for this turkey ham? I've only ever used it in sandwiches...

    Thank you in advance :D

You can make anything you would usually use ham for...

pasta carbonara (or similar ie cheese sauce and chopped ham)
wrap it around blanched leeks, cover in cheese sauce and bake
fry it and have in sandwich - its suprisingly like bacon done like this altho it shrinks to nearly nothing!!
make a savoury rice and chop turkeyham into it
    chicken and ham pie

    any use?
Putting these winter preps here so I don't forget!

Curtain pole installed in the living room
    Paint curtain pole
Window quilts for landing window & french door
Add shrink film to the kitchen door & insulate
    Insulate front door
Bubble wrap windows & french door
    Wash front door curtain
    Blind for the bathroom
Find wrist warmers & the wool socks!
    Wash heated throws
    Wash duvet & wool blankets
Buy vest tops to go under clothes and PJs
Buy nets for bathroom and kitchen
Buy or make blind for kitchen

Or if you would rather use it for sandwiches in the next week or so..... just freeze it!
  • Just had this exact dilemma as DS bought 2 huge packs on offer and everyone was tired of sandwiches! We chopped it up and put it in stir fry this lunchtime - wasn't sure how it would turn out but it was great.

  • I sometimes rip some up and put in an omelette as well as the other suggestions here. How about with some cheese in a baked spud filling? You can use it in a pasta sauce like you would bacon too.
