Dog Fouling - advice please

  • Forgive me for repeating a previous post on the same subject:

What you need is a brown paper bag, a poop scoop and a box of matches.

Go into the garden, get a particularly foul sample with the poop scoop, and put it into the brown paper bag. Wait until such dog owners are at home, then place brown paper bag on their doorstep. Use matches to light said bag. Ring doorbell and retire quickly.

When neighbours open the door, they will find a burning paper bag on their dorrstep. The natural reaction is to stamp on it frequently to extinguish the flames. You are waiting round the corner for the sound of the squelching.

Of course I dont expect to be taken seriously, but its a nice thought.
    I can spell - but I can't type
  • I agree with the taking pictures etc, ask other neighbours to do the same.
I also think the dog warden is a good idea, she obviously isnt looking after the dog properly if its wanderinga round and nearly getting knocked down by passing cars.

    Update.

Called EH again, they now have a few complaints about the dog.

Not managed to get a pic yet, but did manage to wind owner up by complaining loudly of 'Folk letting their dog's s**t right where my kids walk several times a day!'. It's a path that leads to the playpark, so ALL the kids have to avoid it!

Going to speak to dog warden too, and advised neighbours to do the same.

Thanks for all your sugestions, even the ones that I wouldn't actually do, it's stress releiving to think about them!

I am having a similar problem, I had a word with the owner but the problem hasn't really changed as everytime we are home he will keep his dogs under his supervision but when we are out he wont therefore i seem to be unable to gather any evidence.

My local council have said that there isnt much we can do as its 'private land' but if i know what times the dogs are let out they will send environmental heath out but i dont when this is

So it seems we have to keep cleaning up after someone elses dog exactly why i dont have my own animals

agree with a lot of the previous posts - what time of the day is the dog out? I know a neighbour of ours lets his dog out every morning at 7.45 when he's loading his work tools into his van. Consequently dog cr*ps on the grass outside our house and usually someone treads in it. I tried shouting across in a jokey way "oy I think she's left something over here..." and he just waved and said 'no that's not for me'. Anyway rang the dog warden and gave her the details. She waited until the mornings started getting lighter, it seems they change their working hours in EH, and as soon as it was light enough to see the dog, drove around the estate and watched...... went over and gave him a friendly warning and now he's much better and keeping her under control.

EH should have a designated officer to deal with this - if not, contact your local county councillor or town councillor and ask what they are going to do about it. Do they have open meetings in your area that you could go and ask questions at?

I'd pick it up (wearing rubber gloves of course) and post it through her letterbox.

Or at least I'd love to...

when our kids were younger there was a woman on the estate that used to walk her dog around in the late afternoon - and sure enough every day the dog would foul the grass outside. Anyway one day my husband picked it up on a shovel and followed her up the road, she was glancing backwards nervously .... and he followed her up the path and dumped it on her doorstep! She stopped walking around here after that - and used to carry poo bags to pick up!

    thats class!!! Good one!!

Its annoying when its all over your pushchairs wheels aswell....people shouldn't be allowed dogs if they let that happen!

I don't have pets but how would they like it if I let my 2 year old poo in their gardens?????....hey might try it!!!;)
You may walk and you may run
You leave your footprints all around the sun
And every time the storm and the soul wars come
    You just keep on walking

You could try pooing on their doorstep if you're feeling particularly brazen.

It's easy to give in to that negative voice that chants "cant do it" BUT we lift each other up.
We dont count all the runners ahead of us & feel intimidated.
Instead we look back proudly at our journey, our personal struggle & determination & remember that there are those that never even attempt to reach the starting line.
