Dog Fouling - advice please

My neighbour allows her dog to roam free and foul wherever it pleases, which happens to be along the pavement at our front door steps. I and a number (I know of at least 3 others) have not only complained to her but to Enviromental Health several times.

When we approach the neighbour she claims it is not her dog but others, promises to keep him in her own garden etc but it never happens.

We see this dog doing it's buisness daily! And it's a small dog, the rest of the local dogs are a lot larger, it's not hard to tell where it came from...

So, apart from phoning the EH on a daily basis, is there anything else we can do ourselves?

Except of course running the dog down, while it would help the mess problem it's not very fair. Then again, it has been almost hit by the cars quite a lot due to it's habit of wandering behind and underneath them.

I am at my wits end, my DS2 is disbled and falls a lot, he also has a habit of going up and down the steps on his bottom and he has fallen, stepped in, sat in, dog poo more times than I want to think about. The last time I bagged up his dirty clothes and gave them to neighbour to clean, haven't seen them since though.

Two ideas - get some photos of her dog doing it and give those to her - and if the dog is wandering the streets, contact the dog warden and report it.

If she swears it isn't her dog photograph or video her dog doing as you say you have seen it doing it.
I would call the EH every day, it might also be worth calling the RSPCA as she is obviously not looking after it properly if it is left to roam the streets all day.
I hope you get it sorted, especially as your DS is getting covered in it, have you explained to her about this and the potential implications on a childs health for getting covered in dog do?

Put it in a bag and give it back to her. :D

Or just put it on a shovel and ask her to hold out her hands.

Pick it up with a shovel and stick it on her doorstep.

And call the local Dog Warden.

Rikki, should have mentioned, that has been done before too! By another neighbour... Didn't have much effect though, it was a Saturday night!

Just called EH again, so far nothing has been done, so I have added another complaint to an ever growing list. They must have my neighbours (not the dog owner) complaint too as it was that phone number they read back to me.

Will keep my digi camera handy, luckily (or unluckily) the dog is fed almost the same cr*p as comes out so it usually takes some time to do it's stuff.

I had the same problem with one of my neighbours further up the road, he had a huge dog which he let out every morning, who would run down to my grass and leave a huge pile  , any way I went up to the house to complain several times, but they would not answer the door. So in desperation I phoned the local council and spoke to the dog warden who was really nice, she said there was not an awful lot she could do unless she caught the dog in action ( so to speak) but she said that she would go and talk to the owners, and ask them not to let the dog out on its own which is not allowed.I saw her van there later in the day, and have not had a problem since. I would be mortified if I thought my dog was messing on my neighbours gardens, but some people have no shame.

It might be worth phoning your local council and asking for the dog warden,

    good luck x

I am afriad that I would clear up after it for a week and deposit the lot on her front door step.

I'm afraid if I or one of my children fell or stepped in it I would collect it up, put it in an envelope and post it through her letter box. I wouldn't want to lick the envelope though! I would do it while she was out so that I could say sorry, I believe this was meant for you!

I had a similar problem and I was told by the council that they couldn't do anything until we could produce evidence. So if, as others have said, you can get photos or film of her dog pooing then send it to the EH people. They can then fine her for it. I hope that helps (and I hope it stops, it really is foul isn't it, sorry no pun intended) :-)
