HSBC Maestro upgrade

I've had my HSBC Bank Account open for a couple of months, had my salary paid in for one of those months and have been using the account as my main account. The bloke who opened the account said that I should be able to apply for an upgrade to a Maestro card (from a Solo) after 3 months, but since then they've both granted me a credit card with a large limit and a temporary overdraft, so it might be worth trying my luck. Does anyone else have any experience or recommendations for this?
did they offer you the C/C and overdraft or did you apply for it?0 -

You can't always trust it though - I'm constantly offered their CC but when I applied last year I was declined.

I applied for the CC online, rang up a couple of days later and was told I had been accepted. I'm just waiting on the paperwork now.
The overdraft I applied for over the phone, was just a temporary one of £50; was accepted straight off.0 -
Do most banks have internal scores?
After much emailing I finally got Citibank to admit they don't do internal scores if you don't have credit facilites (overdraft etc) with them. So paying in £2000 a month makes no difference if you have a missed payment from 2 years ago when you were unemployed it seems.0 -
Differing banks have differing score systems. Citibank will have a scoring system but may not be happy to disclose it - or their front line staff may not have access to it.
Natwest (several years ago, don't think it's changed) have a 9 point score - and I know Lloyds have a similar scheme. HSBC is out of 100, above 50 is regarded as good.0 -
Well, I've been in the branch today and asked; the answer was yes!
New Maestro card will be at my branch in about 3 days. Sweet!
Thanks guys

Did you find out what your score was (no need to tell us want it is
) we're they o.k. about telling you? 0 -
No, didn't ask that. Don't think it's relevant now tho, tbh, I've got pretty much everything I needed/wanted... :P0

I've been with HSBC since 16 y.o. (now 19) and have always tried asking for a Maestro upgrade but have always been rejected. Recently I've switched my Right Track Bank Account to full Student Bank Account and have been automatically issued a Maestro Card alongside with 1000 pounds overdraft and a credit card with 500 pounds limit. I feel all grown up now. ehehehehehehe
P.S. i won't be using any of the credit facilities provided, but i'm overjoyed about the fact that i am now holding similar financial products as my parents and people who are earning money!0 -
I think it depends which account you have. The Right Track might be a kid's account, or at least for "young people" in which case they might only ever issue Solo. Depends, really...
