HSBC Maestro upgrade

Hi,
I've had my HSBC Bank Account open for a couple of months, had my salary paid in for one of those months and have been using the account as my main account. The bloke who opened the account said that I should be able to apply for an upgrade to a Maestro card (from a Solo) after 3 months, but since then they've both granted me a credit card with a large limit and a temporary overdraft, so it might be worth trying my luck. Does anyone else have any experience or recommendations for this?

Ask the agent to check your behaviour score before putting the request through - if they're experienced they should be able to give you an idea if it will be successful.
Mines 63 and I got a Maestro card from them.0 -
Are they likely to give that sort of data out to me, though? And will they make a search of my credit file (already had one this month, don't want to make too many)?
Was a little perplexed that I got a Solo, but hell, like I say I got an overdraft and card out of them so...0 -
Also, seeing as someone on this bloody board must know: I've just dipped into a temporary O/D limit of £50, which will be paid back tomorrow. That won't affect my score, will it?0

Hi,
How do we check the behavior score with HSBC?
Also FD are part of HSBC group. Do they also run some kind of behavior scoring system?
Thanks

The agents in branch are pretty o.k. about giving you the info, I've found whenever I've asked I've been given the info.... I've read that over the phone they're a bit more difficult.
It is your info so you have a right to see it.
As the OP asked - no getting your behaviour score won't affect your credit file as it's an internal score - asking for a Maestro card - not too sure about that. Like I said an experienced agent should have some idea if you're likely and that way if it does do a credit check you can make your own decision.
FYI, when I got offered a Maestro card it was through Internet banking. In the offers and idea section it asked me if I wanted to upgrade my card to a Maestro.0 -

I'd probably get looked at a bit funny, considering it's a fairly sad thing to have to ask when you're 19...FYI, when I got offered a Maestro card it was through Internet banking. In the offers and idea section it asked me if I wanted to upgrade my card to a Maestro.
Really? How long had you had your account open at that point?0 -
It was about 4 months.0

Surely if you have qualified for a C/C with them your internal score should be pretty good. Cant see any reason why they wouldnt upgrade you from a solo to maestro.
I had mine upgraded after my first months salary was credited. I havent been offered a credit card or overdraft as yet as I am only in my second month of banking with them.0 -

I beleive it can be offered online or via the branch/contact centre. Once you hit their "internal score" your account is flagged with any additional products they will allow you to have0
