Withdrawing from Nationwide

Does anyone know how much notice you have to give Nationwide Building society to withdraw say £5000 out?
I remember last time I went in and wanted £2000 out they refused to give me more than £1000 and made me get the rest out in £250's from the machine over 2 days

For Nationwide Branch Cash withdrawals over £500
Please give your branch a minimum of 48 hours notice (requests may take up to 72 hours - we recommend checking with your branch in advance) and present one piece of ID (either your passport or your driving licence with paper counterpart) when collecting the money.0 -
Thanks a lot0

you're not realy clear
are you wanting to withdraw cash or get a cheque?0 -
I want cash, I can get them to do me a £5000 cheque straight away over the counter0

It's £500 at the counter, and £300 via a cash machine (but you need to do two withdrawals as £250 is the max it will dispense at once).43580

If you give them notice they will let you have it in one go. I got out £1200 cash over the counter with no notice, it depends how much cash they have in.0

OR... ask for them to contact your local postoffice (not local village ones...) and you'll probably find they can produce the cash same or next day. I gave them 1 days notice to lift out £10k when buying my Mini... Apart from making OH and a very good friend come with me (ya wouldn't mess with my friend lol trust me on this!) to look after me carrying that much cash there were no problems. They just asked for proof of ID and debit card as the bank had phoned it all through the cash was ready counted for me and they counted it in front of me as far from anyone else as possible.
Oddly enough larger postoffices seem to carry more cash than banks do...DFW Nerd #025DFW no more! Officially debt free 2017 - now joining the MFW's!
