New Halifax rates were advertised in The Sun today, take effect from 1st Sept. Their web-site not updated yet.

Web saver is now 4.65% or 4.15% with card.

The other one you may be interested in is the Direct ISA which is down to 5%.

Halifax have 85 interest rates? And they wonder why people get confused with the financial industry.

All the big banks seem to have hundreds of different accounts paying silly rates like 2.13% on balances over £150,000 for example..

Why why why why why would anyone keep any money in an account like that, let alone £150,000? There must be plenty out there though or banks wouldn't bother with anything below BOE base rate :o

Seems to me they only need 3 products; savings, fixed rate savings (maybe) and an ISA, just got to dream up another 82 now :D

I guess many of the banks and building societies have now released their new rates following last month's 0.25% drop in the base rate.

Checking some of the websites this morning, there are several savings rates cuts in excess of this (no surprise there, then).

I did notice that Nationwide appear to have stuck to a 0.25% drop in all their accounts I checked - but Yorkshire B.Soc. has cut by 0.3 or 0.35%.

No change on ING - or some of the other providers that cut in anticipation of the official rate change.

Needless to say, some of the sites listing the best saving rates have not caught up with all of the latest changes.

This could be a good time as any to check your accounts and review where your savings are.
