Icesave and transfering previous years

Hi

Looking on the Icesave web site it states that you can transfer previous years ISAs into their accounts

http://www.icesave.co.uk/easy-access-isa.html

Transfer your current Mini Cash ISA to Icesave from NatWest, Halifax, HSBC, LloydsTSB, Barclays or Nationwide and, if you find we haven't bettered your rate, we'll give you £1,000**

Does anyone know if I can transfer from ING and EGG?

Cheers

    Welcome to MSE :)

The way I interpret that is if you transfer from any of those listed providers and Icesave don't have a better rate, they'll give you £1000.

So you can still transfer from other providers but without the £1000 guaranteed rate.

The bullet point above that one states:

Use our hassle free transfer-in service to consolidate the Mini Cash ISA's you hold with other providers in one high rate Icesave Easy Access ISA

Anyone know how long it should take for any transfers to appear in your Icesave ISA a/c? Had a letter from Abbey on Mon to say they had transferred it , but Icesave balance still says £0! Any ideas?

An ISA transfer can sometimes take up to 30 days, though most providers backdate interest to the date of transfer so you don't lose out.

In my case, it's they have been really slow acting on my transfer request (3 weeks before contacting my old provider, Stafford Railway). Fortunately, Stafford Railway have been really quick and the transfer was done within 5 days!
However, I am having big problem with Icesave now since I've never received a "welcome pack" with my user ID from them and so, I don't have access to my ISA and cannot make a deposit . It's been 4 weeks now. They are for the moment at their 3rd promise in 3 weeks that everything has been sent (but each time I call, someone else say "oh sorry, it has not been sent last time!). The way it's going, I am getting worried that I'll loose my ISA allowance for this year!

Hi - welcome to MSE :D

You need to open the Icesave ISA account first and then arrange the transfer by sending a transfer request form to ING. They will then transfer your ISA over to Icesave for you :)

    Hi,
Actually, in my case it was the same and only process (opening+transfer) and it's Icesave, not me, who sent the transfer request form that I've filled when I opened my account. Maybe this was my mistake!

You're right - Icesave seem to administer the transfer themselves - that's one less thing to worry about then :D
