in Mobiles
Currently we are spending:
Me £ 55.00 average bill
£ 8.00 insurance
OH £ 35.00 - not using many minutes
£ 12.00 insurance
Therefore £ 110 per month on mobiles :eek::mad:
Proposed:
OH - drop to PAYG (we can cancel both contracts), therefore under £ 10.00 per month, but let us say £ 10 for sake of maths.
Me - new contract on three for about £ 22.00 giving me more than enough mins and SMS to pay no additional charges.
Both handsets insured with a current First Direct premium account (giving us 2 * mobile insurance and travel cover for £ 10 per month - already paying this)
Therefore, £ 32.00 approx per month.
If I have not missed anything out, I make that £ 78 per month saved, or a massive £ 936.00 per annum!
Have I missed anything? Anyone got any other ideas? I suspect three are not the world best to be honest, but really I should be cutting my phone use anyway ;-)
Thanks.

not enough people think about their spending like this - I do and your ideas are good - also look at your OH's spend patterns as even one of the SIM-only low use deals might make sense - e.g. 3's £12 promo tariff is pretty good and you get free use of certain websites too if that's of use as well as 3-3 calls if you get the £20 1100mins tariff - hurry that ends soon probably today or tmw.The thanks button is here to the right. If you find a post saves you money, gives you useful information, or you agree with it, take a second to thank the poster!

Sounds good - we are looking at all spending like this, its physically scarey how much we are wasting right now - lol

in regards to the insurance - have look at your current account - with my joint account both our phones get covered for a 7.50 per month and this also includes aa cover.0

Interesting, but I see it is still zero % on the balance (like FD where we are at the moment), so if we had a joint account - would the AA and mobile and travel insurance cover both of us, if so then I am interested as I believe you can also get cashback for joining this bank?
Thanks.

Do you really need insurance? I have never lost a mobile phone in about 9 years of ownership. 9 years at £8 a month is a lot of wonga!
Another idea is to make a real effort to try and use the phone less!.....0 -
Hi,
Good point, but we have it anyway with the bank account, and use the SMS balance function and the travel cover facility -so using the mobile insurance as well we feel okay about having the charge. (it is under review however, may consider the Lloyds accound that would give us breakdown and save us a lot each year as well!)

sorry for the delay - yes the lloyds account will cover both of you if it is a joint account.0
