Why the hell are you buying a brand new car for £7K if you earn a low salary? You should be driving around in a £1K car saving your money for other things.
When I bought the new car at £7k, still asking for and getting a cash discount of £1k, I was earning £50k/year.

Exactly one week later when my contract finished, the dotcom bubble burst ... and suddenly I couldn't work as an IT contractor any more.

I'd bought the car to get to/from work, which was 200 miles away from where I lived. I bought it for fuel efficiency and reliability as I was a lone female driver.

Since then I've had a dramatic change of circumstances, due to location/income reduction.... but obviously I kept the car.
  • Hi im Natalie and would like to join this thread!

Im 25, on my own and in december 2009 the council flat I live in is going to be demolished.

Ive decided to use this as an oppertunity to buy my own home as its always been my dream.

Along with the compensation I will get for my home being demolished I also plan to save a fair amount too. I havent set a final figure just to save like a total loon from 1st january 2009 until end december 2009 not long I know!

Im not starting till then because I want to pay off my credit card first.

Im working 2 jobs as well as running a website to make the extra money and planning on selling pretty much everything in my flat as I want a fresh start.

I think this thread has died – it was started in March and nothing's been posted since. There's a similar but apparently more up to date thread on the same topic (see link).
