Can anyone help? I have recently replaced my breadmaker and there is a recipe for malt loaf in the recipe leaflet, but I am unable to source a jar of malt extract. Can anyone out there suggest where I can buy some? I live near Sunderland.

Have you tried Holland and Barrett, or similar "health food" shop? Just googled, and there's one in your town.

Any advice that you receive from me is worth exactly what you paid for it. Not a penny more or a penny less.0 -
Thanks for the suggestion. I did try our local Boots, but it is only a very small branch, and also the brewmaking section of Wilkos. I'll try Holland & Barrett next week, when I go to work. I didn't particularly want to buy online as I am out at work and for something as small as this it's more bother than its worth, but I will if I have to. I wanted to try baking a loaf this weekend! Still all good things come to those who wait!!0

Can you let us know if h&B have it, I never thought about as it was not in my usual supermarkets.Lets get this straight. Say my house is worth £100K, it drops £20K and I complain but I should not complain when I actually pay £200K via a mortgage:rolleyes:0

Try your local chemists, but check the label on what you're buying. There's malt extract and then there's malt extract with cod liver oil, they used to come in very similar jars and I wouldn't want to put the second one in bread!0

Cheers!
I know it's not very money saving but I have just been to the local organic farm shop and they had malted flour, not seen it before and it's in the recipie book. I hang my head in shame at paying £1.60 but it's still well under the supermarket prices for bread!Lets get this straight.
