hi,
just got a new contract phone and was playing one of the games, crazy golf.
it said it was a demo, fine, after 2 holes it started to connect to the net and within 2 seconds it had confirmed my order! i didnt get any t+c's to accept it didn't even tell me how much the game costs!
the confirmation text says:

unlocking code ###### Unlocking the game confirms your agreement to our terms at https://www.mbiz-support.com

does this mean that until i enter the code i won't be charged?, can't even see how much it is supposed to be.
i never agreed to buying the damn game it connected automaticaly and sent the text,
reading the t+c's on the website it suggest that the premium rate text is where the charge is.
if i have been charged already, any ideas how i can get my cash back from these thieves?
thanks
i am pleased to report your i.q test came back negative

  • I would call your network customer services or check your bill online if you can do so. This'll be the only way to check if it's charged you or not. If you have been then i'm sure you could get your money back as you've not agreed to anything! Your network may be able to give you the number of the company who've charged you. I hate all these demo games loaded on handsets these days, esp the ones that can't be deleted. It seems very easy to be dragged into spending one through one wrong button push.
If this has been of any use please click on THANKS, it makes me look good.

Resurrecting an old thread, but we have just found that my daughter has mangaged to received a code at a charge of £2.55 (+VAT).

She denies she accepted anything, but their website denies they will send a code without confirmation.

All demo games have now been deleted (too late :()

Not that it helps but the reciept of a code is usually final. How would the sending company know if youve used it or not?

Sorry, I don't understand your point?

If you call your network they can check what's happened. All that data is logged on the network server

If that was to me (you didn't quote) most software companies consider the sending of a code to be final. With that you can unlocl the game. The argument is you had a trial version and youthen continued to usit and requested a code.

As I said it doesn't help in this case, but as you now have a complete games (because you've got the code) you are unlikely to get any cash back.

I understand the OP may not have chosen to requested one, but it may be buried in the Terms that by playing more than x mins or x times the system will request a code for you. You may be able to check with yout network (as stated) if a code was sent from the phone but in a worst case itwas autorequested by the game, the request came from the phone and the game is bought, although it is a rather sneaky way of doing it.

Seems odd any major manufacturer would pre-install anything like that though.

Not really on topic but to answer this question some apps and games confirm the code used by connecting to a license server, sometimes it's at this stage that the order is considered complete.
  • I did the same and purchased a game without realising it until I got the bill, I have a code to unlock it, will I be charged additional monies if I do?

If you have the code thats usually final. The game co cannot know if you have or have not used it.
