Has anyone heard of MaxTalk?

Hey all,
My elderly nan had the same experience....someone rang her and she didnt know what she was agreeing to...anyway she has had no phone service since October but they have still been taking her direct debits out of her account. Not very good seeing as it is attached to her careline which she now cannot use. They are trading with at least three company names that i know of and offcom have the "helpline" registered to a private name and number. We have sent them numerous emails and rang several times a day to get no reply. I am going to report them...i suggest caution!!!!!!!!!0 -
Had an unsolicited call from them today. I asked them lots of questions and they weren't very good at giving answers. They were very cagey and offended when I asked if they were UK-based. "Of course we are! Why does everyone think we are based in India or something", the caller said in a thick foreign accent.
"Ah well, I'm a member of the UK telephone preference scheme" I said.
Initially the MaxTalk salesperson was defensive, then eventually downright rude and hung up on me!
I must remember to keep a whistle by the 'phone in case they call again! :rotfl:0 -

VAT). They don't offer broadband at the moment, but are trying to launch this. I can't find anything on the net and the customer services number I call is constantly engaged. The rep was quite pushy and I could hardly understand his foreign accent, but just wondered if anyone else had received such a call and if, in fact, they were a genuine company.
Apparently they are ringing all customers with line rental through BT (even though I'm with Talktalk).
I'm going to take a look through all these threads as it looks like I could get a better deal with somebody else. I'm not tied into a contract so easy enough to change (she says!).
I currently have Talktalk3 and pay aprox £35/month. Unfortunately I live in area which doesn't qualify for their free b/band so £10 of this is for b/band. I found their customer services to be excellent until I signed up for the talk3 package and have had really slow b/band speeds throughout the whole contract, so quite keen to change.
Thanks to anyone who is able to respond.0 -
Well, well, well, another first time poster who is over the moon about how great and wonderful this company is!
I wonder why I'm suspicious that the general opinon of other posters is exactly the opposite?Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0 -

I am sure that many of us would be very grateful, Michealking, if you would post on this forum with the UK address and telephone number so that we could contact Maxtalk's customer service directly. Alternatively, if you PM me the details, I'd be grateful.
Thanks,
