Oh yes that is their phrase of choice..As I say they don't give a damn about anyone that they speak to.
When we had people who killed themselves (3 to my knowledge) they would look to see if the debt was in anyway able to be collected from another family member.
Obviously they towed the line whenever visited but the whole ethos of the company was to get the money at whatever cost, they thought that everyone was scum!
i can't imagine what kind of person could do this. they must have absolutely no compassion in their feeble pathetic minds
wow that upsets me0 -
the sort of company that deserves being a victim of BR's??No, I don't think all other drivers are idiots......but some are determined to change my mind.......0

My OH has a very small debt that has been passed on to them and I was recently thinking of making them an offer but I'm sure they wouldn't be able to provide CCA so after reading this thread I think I'll just 'smash it up'!

Believe me, compassion is only a word in a dictionary to them. If a debtors dies they only view it as a possible lost revenue stream and have no sympathy for the poor person who has decided that they can take no more.
It's that attitude that made me leave.....to have no feelings when a person takes their life is shocking.0 -
hi - i hope i am doing this wright i am not used to forums etc., I have had a letter from 1st credit and i discovered this website. i think that we have already paid this money a few years ago, the original amount was owed to hfc but i think that i paid it to another debt collection company but cant remember who they were and cannot find a receipt it was about 5 yrs ago. i feel really stupid now after reading this site because i have only gone and given them our telephone number and after what i've read i am waiting for the phone calls to start. i have read about asking for a copy of the original credit agreement and i did that by phone but i will also write a letter for same and also to only communicate in writeing, oh god what have i done. any help appreciated.:(0

hiya
can you get a bank statement from 5yrs ago showing who you paid? if you don't have one, do you know roughly when it was paid, you could get a copy from the bank
sorry i don't have a good idea0 -
hi thanks for your reply.
i have looked at my bank statements and i know that i paid a few different debts off at the same time, i think that i may have located the payment but it is to a different collection company Cabot Financial, on my account there is a lower amount paid out but i remember that i did a full and final payment at a lower amount, and i am worried that they will not be able to trace my payment because it goes back to six or seven years ago, I have tried to look Cabot Financial up on the internet and nothing is comeing up and I dont know if they are still in business. Does anyone have any suggestions or know anything about Cabot Financial.
Any help appreciated.
