OK I have decided on a different approach. The real key is that beebotron website. Now I used to use Flashget quite a bit with Internet Explorer, but have since moved to Firefox.
So, installed Flashget first. Then installed the Flashgot addin to FF, and gave Flashget as the default downloader in Flashgot's options.
To get a ra file onto my computer I do ALT-Click on the link in beebotron and. Flashget instantly fires up to commence downloading using the default 5 parallel streams method. (With IE, same thing works without any special browser Addin, just need Flashget).
I've been following your instructions and all went well until I tried to download the audio file. When I did an ALT-Click on the link in beebotron, all that was downloaded by flashget was a file called streamhq.php with a size of 1.22KB. Any idea what I'm doing wrong?Award-winning utility services at www.SlashYourBills.info0 -

If at http://beebotron.org/public2/radio4fm.html I right click on the "Any Answers?, Sat 21 Feb" link and select Download with Flashget Link it places this address in the to download bar in Flashget:
rtsp://rmv8.bbc.net.uk/radio4fmcoyopa/radio_4_fm_-_saturday_1400.ra
and can the start downloading. By adjusting Flashget's options, you can have 6 parallel downloads to speed it up.0 -
I updated the above post after testing just now0

I was being thick. I got the message URL now in download list ... and nothing else. So I assumed it hadn't worked. I should have then opened FlashGet and I would have seen it downloading and would have waited until it completed.Award-winning utility services at www.SlashYourBills.info0 -
just reinstalled, following bat999's advice. in the past you could get audio readings from over several days. now with the advent of i player it seems the beebotron site only go's back a week , or am i being a plank.
is there any way of recording several episodes even if they cover say 28 days.Div 1 Play Off Winners 2007

The BBC only make the programs 'listen again' for a week, so that's all that the Beebotron site can list them for. The programs get replaced each week by the new shows.
So if there were several episodes over 28 days you would need to download them each week before they disappear.

The original post of this thread was about recording DAB radio stations using DAB radios.
Reading through all the posts it appears there is not a simple solution and each method has its faults. The beebotron option seems great for BBC broadcasts but what about other stations?
If I want to record LBC programmes is my only option to subscribe and pay for podcasts or buy the Pure Evoke 3 for £199? (I know Roberts do a DAB with EPG but it has had bad reviews and the Pure Bug does not have a headphone socket which I need!)
I have also been looking at Internet Radios but none of them have the recording option. Could I set my computer to record live from an internet radio broadcast?0 -
There is a funny workaround - the Humax Freeview set top box has an EPG and makes recordings from all radio stations to it's hard drive. These can be copied out via a USB link. I tried it and was able to play the extracted MP2 files on an old Creative MP3 player with very good quality - but an inconvenient process. Your question does make the point though: Why are we being encouraged to time-shift Freeview TV programmes while being discouraged from doing the identical thing for radio programmes on any portable device.0
