Hi folks
I have an ipod with the software on my PC.
I would like to get it on my laptop as well because I am away a lot.
My questions are is it ok to use the ipod software again on my laptop and secondly do I need to load all my cds again once I have put the software on or is there a way to transfer all the music from pc to laptop
Thanks in anticipation

    Hiya Nels

Would have thought you could have the software on both, my first was done by the BIL off the web.

Isn't there an option to sync, so would it copy from IPOD to laptop?

Yeah you can use the software no prob. The only problem is you have to have the same music on both to sync without losing any tracks. To transfer your music the easiest way to do it would be with a network or firewire cable.
Sometimes i surprise myself by being right.

Could you copy your music to a USB drive or an external hdd and then transfer to your laptop????

it's basically a cable that allows you to connect to computers together. The firewire cable allows data to be transfered at 400meg per second and a network cable at 100 meg. You could also use a USB cable.

Just to give you a sequel to the above thread - as I was updating some stuff on my pc after loading itunes on here (my laptop) and it started to make the most dreadful noise and then gave up the ghost.
it is now in intensive care (in a local computer shop) who have said they probably wont be able to save anything because its likely to be the hard drive thats gone.
Guess what - no itunes at all now!
or documents come to think of it
    :wall: :wall: :wall:
Please say a prayer tonight for a very poorly computer and a very cheesed off Nelski!!!!

Hi, I had a simliar problem after having my hard drive go on my pc.. but still had all my ipod mp3's on my ipod. If you sync your ipod with your lap top (NB itunes has to be installed) you cannot automatically transfer the tunes over. But, there is a way around it.

a small programme which allows you ipod mp3 files to be saved over to your laptop. I followed the instructions and now have all my mp3s back on both ipod and also computer.

    any probs' .. just holler!

Why not just use your iPod to transfer the files? It is a removeable hard drive in itself. Plug it in, it'll show up in Windows Explorer as a removeable drive. Create a folder on the iPod and copy the music into it. (Note you won't be able to play these tracks within the iPod, as iPods have their own file structure/collection hierarchy)

If you have tracks on the iPod already, you can use a program, such as EphPod that'll allow you to take the tracks off (iTunes only allows you to put tracks on the iPod not off it). I personally never use iTunes as I find it resource hungry, and have never liked it.
